Thanks for the mention!

It should be noted that 1425 isn't doing kiwi drive this year, instead opting for a 4cim 2 omni 2 traction wheel drive.

Its true that the Kiwi-streak is broken, but we didn't loose omni-drive, just went from 3 to 5. No traction wheels here, just solid H-Drive.

Looking forward to the competiton!

You used kiwi drive every other year despite what anyone said about the drive system. And then the year where kiwi drive is acceptable, you switch it up.

1425 is the #kiwihipsters
They did it before 1114 made it cool

Why, hello. Here's a picture on CD of that robot. We even still have that chassis kicking around.

Sorry let me edit that:

1425 is the #kiwihipsters
They did it to high levels of success before 1114 made it cool.
(Seriously check out their 2013 robot. it was so cool.)

The most impressive thing about that robot was not just the Kiwi drive. It was the fact that they could Full Court shoot through two pyramids, while on the run...

After practice day here in Australia, team 4613 is the real deal and technically a rookie. They are the best rookie this season and I'm calling it after less than 3 weeks done.

Today the both of us cleared and scored all the totes from the feeder station capping two of them which should have been 4. They did the majority of the stacks.

That's pretty surprising, would have been a good year for it. I wonder what they put their resources into this year. I'm excited to see what they show off, it's always something creative, unique, and competitive.

At bunny bots they had an intriguing off-season drive train in their pits - an equilateral triangle swerve drive. It was super elegant. That would have been great setup for this game, but they were unsure that it would be ready in time for build season, primarily due to software and encoder concerns.

I'm looking forward to seeing their robot regardless.

Are they one of the Australia "Do Not Compete" teams?

Fun fact, everyone--these teams actually teamed up again this year (3974 fell way too far in the draft, though--they are way better than the position they were drafted in). It was great to play all 3 teams in the finals! Big fans of all 3 of them, great people to work with.

This poster is clearly some sort of wizard.

Seriously though, it was awesome to be paired with 4373 and 3974 again. I will echo Ben's comments that 3974 fell way too far in alliance selection. They were ranked highly on our 1st round pick list. Getting them was an absolute steal in the 2nd round, and really cemented our alliance together.

Thanks! Maybe one year in the far future we won't end up getting eliminated by TechFire

Seriously though, we were ecstatic when we managed to get 3974 in the second round - they had been about 4th or 5th on our first round picklist. We were also not sure about being able to pick 4373 - we were pretty nervous watching 433's selection. More fun facts: Every single member of our alliance managed to get an award at Springside - 1712 got Industrial Design, 4373 got Industrial Safety, and 3974 got Innovation in Control. Also, that was the first finalist appearance for both RooBotics and for Dawgma! All in all, we managed to do pretty darn well for ourselves.
