Hello everyone! It's that time of the week again! Now that all Regionals/Districts have finished through week three, voting is now open.
A gentle reminder about voting: You can only vote for teams who competed in week three competitions (don't forget about Israel and Australia!) To vote, head on over to http://www.FRCTop25.com/Vote. And as always, we look forward to revealing the results live on Tuesday at 9PM EST at http://www.FRCTop25.com/Watch Thanks everyone, happy voting! |

To help inform people's voting, I created a spreadsheet (based on Ed Law's OPR/CCWM spreadsheet) with the teams that competed in week 3. It includes OPR, Qual Average, and Elim Average. I then created a basic 'Total Score' that is (25% of the team's OPR) + (25% of the team's QA) + (50% of the team's Elim Average). I pulled the Qual Average and Elim Average manually from the TBA so there are likely some errors.
The attached spreadsheet should also give all the teams competing in Week 3... feel free to sort by team number or any category or tinker around with the weights. I'm unsure particularly between whether a 25%/25%/50% vs 30%/30%/40% weight is better... in one way, weighing elim performance equally with qual performance makes sense; however, elim performance is very dependent on who teams partnered with... depth of event, presence of powerhouse, and such become very large factors. There is obviously the presence of co-op in quals and absence in elims. Here are the top 30 by that Total Score... Quote:

"No offense to Utah..." Justin! When you have to preface something with that you are setting yourself up to imply something offensive. I'm trying to keep things positive, but remarks like that make it a little difficult. So, I'll just say, please come visit a Utah regional sometime instead of assuming that it's weak. You do a disservice to all of those Utah regional teams who've worked so hard all season just to be dismissed by you and be surprised that so many alliances could put up so many points in Elims. Next year, I expect to see you there, watching it happen so you can speak from personal experience.

For the past 5 years, Mike and I have asked teams to send us information about their area so we can use it on the show. This would be a perfect opportunity for you to tell us about all the great teams that I wish we had the time to research ourselves. Another cool thing that would help would be to organize a rapid posting of match videos so that it's easy for people to watch the great matches played in Utah this past weekend. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that Canada, California, and Michigan, three of the most well known regions in FIRST also have the highest quality webcasts and the quickest posting of their match videos. Bringing worldwide attention to your region isn't easy, but there is a lot of support available if you're willing to put in the work. We were glad to have Team Tators on the Top 25 again and good luck in Arizona. |

Fair enough. Utah regional is on YouTube, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Guess I never realized the importance of trying to sell a regional. I still invite you to come next year. I don't think you will be disappointed. And the scenery is beautiful, too.
