It was fun working with 842 at Arizona! Hopefully we will see if they get their bot working properly! Vegas will be a wow show this year with the combination of 148-987 that we saw at Dallas! Firebirds are excited to see all the amazing robotics regardless of how we do.

Looking forward to Vegas, always an incredibly well-run regional.

Where will the live stream be up, and can we get it added to TBA?

I think the webcast will be accessed via team987.com

I will try to confirm asap...

Hey teams, I have a quick note about the social. It will be an outdoor picnic, so bring blankets and/or chairs to sit in the grass. Also, we are bringing the t-shirt cannon, and would like to shoot a shirt from each team. If you want to help out, please bring a shirt to the mobile machine shop on Thursday morning. Thanks! :D

Looking forward to seeing 987 compete again! Very impressive bot at Dallas in week 1.

Also looking forward to any improvements to the already stellar bot.

And just flat out played great in first match.

3 Tote auto, 2 stacks w/ can scored by the 65 second mark, co-op acquired and scored in 20, then another full stack before buzzer.

... And the match schedule was changed right before the first match. They had no time to prepare. Great job!

High Rollers - did you guys change anything on your intake since Dallas? You seem to be sucking the totes in faster.

Urethane wheels in place of the banebot wheels. Practice has probably helped more than that.

Custom; just some round stock with the urethane on there. Believe the urethane is the standard McMaster stuff. Possible solution for teams like us short on banebot wheels.

The livestream went down for a few minutes, so i didn't see the 208 points from 148.. Did they do 4 stacks of 6 with container on top?
I'm very curious if they will be able to make 4x 36 points stacks on there own @Worlds.
What do u think?

Our team tried something similar but had trouble machining the urethane. Do you know what your team used to machine it?

The tubing is cut and stretched over delrin wheels machined on a CNC mill. A flange added on a lathe. We are fortunate to have a few kids who are very talented on the machines.

I would like to extend a huge congratulations to Danielle on receiving a WFFA today! After talking with you earlier this weekend, it is clear that you absolutely deserve it.

Additionally, I wanted to say thanks to all of the volunteers and the regional planning committee for being so welcoming and friendly! I showed up yesterday as a volunteer at an event that was new to me where I knew no one, and I received an incredibly warm welcome from the nicest group of volunteers I've met yet. Thank you Las Vegas!

Okay one more post... thanks to teams 148 and 987 for graciously sharing so much wisdom with our team members. It was a great learning opportunity for our students and I hope it will help kick-start future successes. You both have some of the nicest mentors and volunteers I have ever met, and I'm really glad we had the opportunity to work with you. Thanks for setting a great example for this young team to strive toward!

I would like to take this chance to give a huge shout out to our eliminations partners, 4415 and 3495. Even though we were the 7th alliance, we were able to finish 3rd overall in terms of average points. It was a ton of fun to work with you guys and I wish nothing but the best for your teams!

Re: 2015 Las Vegas Regional

The High Rollers would like to thank our BFFL on 148 for choosing us to join them and 5012 yesterday. We appreciated the opportunity to gain some redemption and also to strengthen the friendships started in Dallas. It has been awesome to see the bonds between our teams form so quickly. This was an especially gratifying win given the struggles we had with our auto routine ( turns out much of the problem was due to a faulty encoder and also a need to add an 1/8" recess to the end bump of our claw grabbing the first can). Amazing what an 1/8" can mean.

Special thanks to 5012's willingness to add 148's brilliant shower curtain noodle blocker and for their assistance acquiring cans. And of course a shout out to our friends on team 60 ( congrats on the EI) and their partners 3309 and 4322 for their great effort. Kudos to all of the great teams and all of the volunteers that continue to make LVR one of the best events around!

1251 had an awesome time at this regional. I would like to thank FIRST Nevada, the volunteers and Team 987 for all the hospitality as well as making this great regional happen. Congrats to the runners up 60, 3309 and 4322 for being excellent all regional long. The winners 148,987 and 5012 were an inspiration to all, good luck in St. Louis. Special shout out to our alliance partners 341 and 4800, we were looking for two robots that could stack and you all exceeded our expectations. Finally, I would like to say on behalf of 5012 HAT, HAT, HAT!!!

To echo everything that Ellen said above, huge thanks to our playoffs partners 148 and 987. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the selection. Our students have learned so much from our partnership in playoffs. Thanks a lot and we'll see you all at champs!

Thanks to the Cashman Center for hosting the event. Nice spacious venue, plenty of arena seating, and everything else you could want in a venue.

Thanks to all of the volunteers. Special shout out to the CSAs from Cross The Road Electronics and the FTAs for being so patient with us when we experienced some controls hiccups early on. I've never seen CSAs faster to respond to controls issues than these guys.

Thanks to everyone for making this a memorable regional. Hope to see you at championships!

Re: 2015 Las Vegas Regional

The Las Vegas Regional is one of the best run competitions in FIRST, and I really enjoyed the venue, volunteers, and teams. Next time your team is thinking about going to a travel regional, you should strongly consider Las Vegas.

Thanks to 341 for re-adopting me for the weekend! It was fun to be back.

Thanks to 1251 for picking 341 and having the foresight to choose 4800 as well. This was a pretty cool alliance: Two pure stackers and one pure capper playing the "game" about as collaboratively as possible this year, and they put up some very respectable scores in the process. The autonomous mode was really cool - 4800 uses a very effective fusion of sensors, including a gyro, ultrasonic sensor (for detecting distance off the wall), and encoders to ensure that the robot stays on track in all three degrees of freedom (yaw, lateral, longitudinal). I'm glad 341 was able to assist with getting the cans out of your way, too.

Congrats to 148 and 987 on their dominating win - I'm Looking Forward to seeing how divisions shake out! Congrats to 5012 on their first regional win as well, to 60 and 597 for their awards, and to the entire 60/3309/4322 alliance for punching their much deserved tickets to the Championship.

@ Jared Russell 4800 was my team all regional long, I was just hoping they wouldn't be picked so we could have them as a 3rd robot. Some of the other 1251 mentors and I were wondering if you were around Saturday morning when we were going to pick 341. Knowing that you had been working with 254 lately I wasn't sure, would have been cool to say hello though. I agree divisions are going to be interesting this year.

Joe,

Firstly, thanks so much for sharing. I think a number of us are running out of BB tread :-) A couple questions for you.

#1 Did you guys design your hub with a press fit i.e. stretched the urethane tube around the hub or did you guys make the hub for a "snug fit" and add an adhesive?

#2If you used an adhesive what did you find worked the best?

Kind Regards,

-Josh

It's a stretch fit, with the hub about a half inch oversized then knurled. There is no adhesive used. :)
