RAMP TETHER

After watching Waterloo, I've seen many ramps...

Why is Simbotics not tethered to its ramp?

Is it legal not to be tethered to a ramp?

Their 2nd pick (5719) I am sure was very light and as such passed inspection with both ramps as tethers. That's why you'll see them sitting by the back ramp for the whole match.

We did the same in our quarterfinals at waterloo - during eliminations, we had an alliance member assume our ramp tether (we were planning on adding an autonomous canburglar which would prevent the tethering, but didn't finish it in time).

You need to make sure the new ramp owner puts their team numbers on the ramp since it becomes part of their robot, and gets re-inspected for weight/transport config.

I will say it was wonderful to have the robot driving around without having to worry about the rope/tether.

At tech valley after we build our ramp and had or only weigh 3 pounds with our initial tether many teams copied the initial design to make super light weight ones. By today at least 5 or 6 teams more has tethers then the inital 3.

Week 4 - The Week of the Tether!

I was at Great Lakes Bay Regional. At inspection, 314 brought in their ramp (which had the ironic string tether). By the end of the competition, nearly 5 teams had built their own tethers, including their elim partner 2619 and the kettering team 1506.

We'll see what the game manual revisors have to say on Tuesday.

E/ yes, its a G25 red card (but as above pointed out it was connected to an alliance partner)

ROBOTS may not intentionally detach or leave parts on the FIELD.

You'll want this Q&A.

No need.

You see, if you leave something on the field that isn't part of a robot, then it is removed from the field before the match--by you, or by the field crew (G8). And if you intentionally detach part of a robot, then you get a G25.

So if you bring a ramp that is part of a robot, it needs to stay attached to the robot no matter where the robot is. If it isn't part of a robot, you'll never be able to use it because it will be removed.

Yes, I edited my post to clarify the point that the ramp was indeed connected to a robot and not debris as the initial post had stated. Thank you.

Actually, it wasn't 2619 that had the ramp, it was the our 2nd pick, Grey matter with the ramp.

We were one of those such teams. We loved how simple and light your design was and made something very similar to it on Saturday. Thank you for offering to help us make our own version.

Just to clarify, 2619 did not in fact use a ramp. 1506 did, that is correct.
