This little concoction might be my second-favorite machine so far this year. (I mean, Simbots tho.) Genius!

I would guess a team's best bet would be to have their human player make a stack of two yellow totes and then use this to get them on the step? Otherwise they would need to be paired with another robot that could make stacks.
Although a team using this could definitely get a single yellow tote on the step by themselves, so it is useful on it's own. It would be really cool to see a lower resource team slap this on their robot at a competition!

Also very useful for a team that can make a three stack but is unable to get to the step (like 148).

Or 1114.

I'd dispute the COTS claim, however, since Vex is out of 2 x 1 tube at the moment.

Since when is Vex the only distributor of 2 x 1 aluminum box channel?

I have to ask. What is this cheesecake reference. Is it like a new corndog thing?

It refers to the act of providing a third alliance member with a contraption fashioned for them to increase their usefulness to the alliance.

Coined because "everyone loves cheesecake!"

There is a large thread discussing the merits and ethics of "cheesecaking" another team, especially when the "gifts" come with conditions, e.g. "we will choose you as our third alliance pick and give you this nifty ramp if you will agree to sit in the corner and be tethered to it". Admittedly this is a worst case one-sided scenario, there are plenty of examples of teams working together to make robots better suited for a particular alliance.

At GTR central both the finalist alliances had examples of this. 1114/610/1547 had the ramp tether scenario, and 2994 was turned into a gigantic canburglar to help 188 and 4001 (unsuccessfully). Apparently other regionals were seeing similar activities. The cheesecake reference and thread came very shortly after this.

So, now, because I'm still new - what are the corndog references?

The origin. The response. And then it just got a life of its own. Nominally, it's about Frank's epic level of responsiveness, engagement of the community, and appreciation of mentors. Also, food on sticks.

How Heavy/Light is that specific cheesecake coop manipulator anyway 148? Great job on the public release w/ files, video & instructions (and purely COTS too!) BTW! ~</;-)~

I love it...What we do for the least of us, we also do for the most of us this year and every year. Just 1 huge FRC Alliance this year against those scorekeepers....And that ever so nasty short tempered as usual clock. (Well, it isn't like the GDC shorted us on game pcs. or anything...As every muscle in my body has told & repeatedly reminded me so, over the last few days).

Thank you Advil & Ibuprofen...You are now my best 2 friends. (As I sit here filling out that volunteer request for Champs).

Man, I'm craving both Corndogs...And, Cheesecake for lunch now. Great going guys!

Now, if we can just line up the Cargil Corp from Iowa & Nathans' Hot Dogs (and of course The Cheesecake Factory also), both from New York, as FIRST Championships Mentor & Student Sponsors...We could actually make that super lunch of both food(s) on a stick, and sweet food wrapped in a smooth graham cracker crust a tasty reality eh? Where is French's Mustard from BTW?...Anyone actually know? (They could just crate that stuff in, just like we do the bots).:D
