We are working on getting a stream going. If it works out, it should be up this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Edit: There is still a chance we will not be able to. I am hoping that won't be the case, but it is possible.

I didn't get into the stands today, but watching from the field several teams are looking great....2122, 3309, 3230 among others. Should be fun tomorrow!

Team Tators has set up the webcast of the Arizona West Regional! You can access the webcast at https://new.livestream.com/accounts/...events/3940862.

Note that logging in with a Livestream.com account may be required.

You'll notice that the quality isn't top-notch. We are hoping to get a different converter sometime today in order to stream at a higher quality.

Seems that there is a webcast, but it looks like you are required to log in with a livestream account to access (although you can check bugmenot for a login if you don't want to give livestream your email):

I'm hearing that they're trying to switch to a higher quality source, that was about an hour ago. Hopefully it'll come back up sometime soon.

It appears to me that Team Tators 2122 sponsored today's streaming. Thank you very much! I was able to spend a good part of the afternoon at GCU today, and enjoyed watching the rest at home.

1212 came up with a new one to me: two equivalent robots tethered to each other, configured to operate at first as canburglars. Great idea, maybe they will have the nitty gritty details worked out tomorrow.
Be careful about your setup times, folks.

We certainly tried our darnedest. That first match we had it in a minute and thirty seconds, that with the help of our alliance members, who were wonderful about it. The second match we didn't have time to set it up properly in our pits and everything seemed to fall apart once we got it on the field. It was a bit disappointing to see all our hard work fail at the moment when it counted though; it would have been nice to see it work at least once, it was a really cool system and it may have taken away a bit of the stress associated with our setup and take down.
We certainly learned a lot from this design though. We had to get incredibly creative to keep our weight down. We also learned to maybe not do something so ridiculously complex with so many points where something could go wrong; we tried to do everything like we always do and it rarely works out well for us. I doubt it will change though, we have a rich history of hubris.
That said, sorry to the refs and everyone for consistently delaying matches, we did our best but it wasn't quite enough.
Also congats to all the other teams, you put on an amazing regional, the matches were certainly exciting to watch.

That was a great event! Thank you to all the teams for moving things along quickly and helping to keep us running a smooth event this weekend. Even with match replays we still finished on time or ahead of schedule each day.

Congratulations to the winning alliance of 2122, 3309, and 5059. A special thank you to 2122 for making this ref's job easy, despite all those totes flying through the chute your human player always made it obvious that he was not going to get a penalty with them. It was also great to chat with all of your mentors and parents who volunteered at the event.

Congrats to the Finalists including 3785 and 1726 who qualified for the World Championship with Wild Card slots.

And congratulations to 2375 on a well deserved Chairman's Award. Your video was well done and was a great way to package up the dragon theme running through your team.

For all the Arizona teams, attached is my final Arizona State Championship projections based on the data I have. Teams highlighted in green won the Chairman's Award at an event and receive an automatic bid to the State Championship. All teams submitting for the Chairman's Award at any event receive a 10 performance point bonus but this data is not published so I have entered this for teams that have been mentioned as having submitted on ChiefDelphi. My sheet does not handle all tiebreakers for teams with identical performance point totals, as written it does not look at Best Elimination Round Finish (2nd order sort) or the match score sorts (5th-9th order sort). Take this as a close estimation, if you are in the top 20 teams I would count on an invitation but everyone below that is a question mark. Having submitted for the Chairman's Award is a huge factor for those with lower point totals as it can change your ranking by almost 15 places. The current cutoff sits at 19 points.

If you see any corrections needed or know of teams that submitted for Chairman's but aren't listed as doing so please let me know.

Congrats to all of the teams! We had a lot of fun at the first ever AZ West Regional. Dragon Robotics is humbled and grateful for winning the Regional Chairman's Award, and earning our first ever blue banner! I am so very proud to be your mentor/coach.

See you all in St. Louis!

Real quick point on this. The 10 pt bonus is awarded only once. It does differ in that the team's qualifying points do not necessarily have to come from the same event that the Chairman's bonus comes from. If a team did not submit at their first event but did at their second, their Qualifying Points are from the first event but with the 10pt bonus added for the submission at the second.

From the AIA doc:

State Competition Qualification:
Teams qualify based on their performance point total at their initial FIRST Regional competition. Qualifying points are based on the District Model except points are applied from only one regional event.

The exception to these point valuations is for a Chairman’s Award submission:
o By submitting at any Regional competition, the team will be awarded 10 points.
o If teams present for Chairman’s at multiple events, they will only receive 10 points.
o A team winning a Chairman’s Award at any Regional competition automatically goes to the AIA Robotics State Championship.

Awards
Chairman’s Award Submission (any regional event)
10 (awarded once)
* Rookie teams are not eligible for Chairman’s Award points
