Many, many great stacking robots in MAR. I wouldn't be surprised if pick #24 is worth at least a six stack, if not a six stack and a half, by playoff time.

I have a feeling it would be more likely to be a canburglar. An alliance with 3 robots that make 6-stacks fast will quickly run out of cans; a canburglar will become necessary.

If all 8 alliances in MAR are RC limited (ie, they put up the highest score possible with 3 RCs) I'll wear a MORT shirt Thursday at Championship (Drost will have to provide said shirt)

For those of you counting along at home that's:

3x42 (6 stack + Cap + Noodle)
60 points for all other bins scored
20 points for auton stack
8 points for RC set
5 points for robot set

I'll be nice and ignore litter. Grand total: 219. If every elimination alliance at MAR puts up an average of over 219, I will gladly wear a NUTRONs Aloha (11) shirt.

Edit - Why 11, 11 and 125 have a running joke that they are a feeder team to us. Hence the NUTRONs Aloha nick name.

That doesn't make your data bad, or not important. It just means you shouldn't use the wrong data. You should use your data on who gets more cans most reliably / quickly, and you should use more data to evaluate how much stacking ability is compromised by doing so. To say data doesn't matter seems to imply you're collecting the wrong data, or not enough of the right data.

Are those 60 points for bins scored without cans?

Yup. You can check Drost on that number.

I think a 225-2590-canburglar alliance could put up 250 points.

30 HP totes
+18 upright LF totes
-18 totes scored in 3 full stacks
*2pt/tote
-----------------------------------
60 points for uncapped totes

I have no doubt that SOME alliances will break the 219 barrier. But the statement was that it would be "difficult" to leave the QFs without stealing cans and that because of that "data won't be key". My claim is that the point cap imposed by cans isn't going to be a limiting factor for the overwhelming majority of alliances.

Depends. Cheesecake can solve that problem too. And I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of cheesecake this weekend.

I think that the best way to put it is that you're never looking just at how many points one team does on its own, but also how many points they contribute to your alliance, which is essentially what Tyler is saying. However, I think you need lots of different points of data (how many stacks, how high, from where, ability to steal cans, etc.) in order to make such a determination, so I don't see how it's irrelevant.

But cheesecake is slightly less optimal than a team that already has the capability. They are already practiced at it and you don't have to take the risk of building something that causes the robot to fail inspection or doesn't work (as happened in North Brunswick)

Made a quick jump over to this thread to nab this list.

223 (2)
225 (2+2)
365 (2)
433 (2)
484
1089 (2)
1676 (2)
2729 (1+1)
3637
5407

I believe these are all of the teams who have already been out and about in MAR with RC grabbers. I'm not sure how many have demonstrated the ability in autonomous mode but I think that is going to be one of the keys for stacker scouts at MAR. We've seen good attempts through 7 events at MAR but there hasn't been a single team who's stood out as the most consistent during auto. Unless you have a practice bot at home, it will be tough to cheesecake a RC grabber against practiced grabbers already in the field.

The other point to note for scouts will be what the RC grabber's role is after auto. Can they go back to the step and claim left over RCs quickly in teleop? Should they landfill or feeder station stack?

Can't forget 1391 pretty sure the only team in MAR that can grab all 4 at once in auto. 25 can also grab from the step (in teleop).

Sorry, I should have mentioned that these are the teams currently registered for MAR champs. Unfortunately it doesn't look like 1391 will make it there this year.

I don't think that's a very good definition of RC limited. Instead I would say that an alliance is RC limited if it has uncapped stacks and no RCs on their side of the field. In this case they would have scored a lot more with an extra RC.

IIRC every winning alliance at each district event (except maybe Mt. Olive) used at least four RCs. Many finalist alliances (at least at Hatboro and North Brunswick) used four too.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that a majority of the MAR champs alliances will either have a canburglar (auto or teleop) or be RC limited.
