Innovative Scouting Data Collection and Interpretation by Team 303
 

This season, Team 303’s strategy team has upgraded the scouting data collection an analysis process. We have moved from paper-based process to app based process that uses text messages to send data into an excel sheet on Google Drive through a free third party app named IFTTT. This approach requires neither a master device nor internet connection, and it is very flexible; any robot can be scouted at any time using cell phones creating a powerful system. Any device with Drive can access the Google Sheets with the data. Thanks to Team 1986, Team Titanium, for showing us this process.
We have also adopted a new tool called Tableau to analyze our data, Tableau is available free though the FIRST partnership and has strong analytical and visualization capabilities using large data-sets. This is ideal for our team, as we have to compare over thirty teams in events that often have over sixty matches.
