2015 Gateway Robotics Challenge

You are invited to attend and compete at the 2nd Annual Gateway Robotics Challenge on October 17th, 2015 at Hazelwood Central High School! A quick video on the event can be found here: https://youtu.be/ZBD40fpvc8c

This will be a one day event again this year. Registration is $250 per team. Teams that enter a pre-rookie team & robot will get a half price discount and the pre-rookie team will compete for free!

Teams interested in registering should go to this link: http://gatewayroboticschallenge.com/registration.html

People interested in volunteering should go here: http://gatewayroboticschallenge.com/volunteer.html

Last year we had 25 teams competing and it was a great opportunity for any teams in the area to gain more experience and have a fun time. We will have a full sized playing field once again running the full FMS system and the field layout will look something similar to this:

We will also have a sign up form in Team 4329's pit at the Championship event and will have flyers so feel free to swing by our pit if you're interested in getting more information.

Additional details will be coming post-competition season. St. Louis area teams - make sure to spread the world and get as many pre-rookie, rookie & 2nd year teams involved this year!

Re: 2015 Gateway Robotics Challenge

We are officially up to 25 teams now including two pre-rookie teams from the St. Louis area. We would definitely still like some more teams to sign up though, there's plenty of room for more teams at the venue - http://www.gatewayroboticschallenge.com/registration

We are also planning to live stream the event this year with a much better setup - one GoPro for the main field view and two HD webcams for 1/2 field views that can be switched on the fly. All matches will be recorded and uploaded after the event.

Event rule changes will be posted soon. It will be similar to some of the others we've seen to limit can wars and provide an extra can or two to each alliance to maximize scoring.

Event rule changes have been sent out to the main team contacts. They can also be found here: http://gatewayroboticschallenge.com/rules.html

(Thanks to IRI and Chezy Champs for showing how this game should have been played all year long)

8: 1985 - 4187 - 1094 - QF

I am in the process of splitting the individual matches up and should have them uploaded to YouTube in the next few days.

Thank you to all of the teams who came out to play in our 2nd Annual GRC. We had exactly 24 teams and felt it was a great opportunity for all teams to get a lot of extra playing time for their new students (7 qualification matches + elimination rounds.)

Thanks to all of our volunteers and to AndyMark for helping this event run as smoothly as it did.

One very awesome story from this event - 5836 is a pre-rookie team and a rookie team from last year (5479) let their students drive and operate their robot for the entire day. They ended up on the winning alliance and all students had a great experience to help prepare them for next year's build season. Thanks to the Cafe Bots for lending their robot for the day!

Once we have a date for 2016 we will make it public and hope to see even more teams next year!

Re: 2015 Gateway Robotics Challenge

Thanks for the great event. It was a perfect chance to let a lot of students drive in a competitive setting.

Fielding two robots was a little different, but fun. In Q15, our two robots attempted an autonomous recycle bin "cheers" across the step. We didn't practice it, and the robots didn't drive far enough to actually touch the bins together.

Q17 has both bots on the same alliance doing a synchronized auto.
