I hope in the future FIRST chooses artists that support quality values, not the "one last night" mindset.

I'll always remember that concert, and having to go up on stage.:)

FIRST promotes robots fairly heavy, yet there are tons of movies that depict robots as killing machines. Does this mean one of the major aspects of this program should be outlawed? We live in a society where people are free to make their flavor of music and we as people are attracted to it. There is really no way around it besides to pick a music group that maybe only 5% of the community likes, which I hope they would never do. Its not like they are playing hollywood undead or something like that

Will the food and drink prices be subsidized by FIRST at all, or is this merely a huge money grab for the stadium's concessions provider?

Sure there are tons of killer robot movies, but there are also tons of fun family friendly robot movies, like Big Hero 6, The Iron Giant, I Robot, etc.

Maybe I'm showing signs of age when I say I'm not a huge fan of some of the messages in the music that kids listen to today. I'm not saying we need to have children's entertainers on stage, but I would hope that the choice of artists, and the song choices, would keep the junior high to high school target audience in mind.

I recall an awkward moment a few years ago when I was driving a friend's 14-year-old daughter somewhere. Lady Gaga's LoveGame came on the radio and the girl started singing along enthusiastically. Until she had an "oh.. wait" moment, went silent and turned crimson red. (For reference, I am a guy in my mid-30's).

Film makers are free to produce what they hope will make money. Sometimes the big sellers depict robot violence, though I wouldn't expect FIRST to hold a showing of such a film. FIRST is something kids can get involved in that will enrich their lives and build a brighter future. From what I see of the performing artists, their lyrics do not jive with the FIRST culture. I take no issue if you are attracted to that type of music, I would simply ask FIRST picks something a bit more family friendly. This is a rather moot point anyway, as it is an optional concert.

Let's be honest. Artists that "support quality values" will not be exciting for teenagers.

We're talking FIRST students here. We know they're quality kids. One show from an artist that doesn't fully support quality values will not drive these students down the wrong path.

What about for those of us coming despite our team not qualifying. Our mentor who arranges travel was able to reserve passes for us but it doesn't talk about where to pick up these passes.

I don't know about this year, but they usually have a bunch of tables set-up in the hallway of America's Center and one is designated for Finale wristbands/tickets/passes/etc. and from my experience, anyone can pick them up, even if someone reserved them for you. They were sorted by name last time I picked them up, not team number. Though I expect that to be different this year.

I would agree that teenagers (including myself) are commonly more interested in less wholesome music. Though it would be nice to keep the younger kids away from such music as long as possible.

Yes, Glenn, I too will always remember that concert and standing right next to you just before you went up on stage. For those of you who don't know or remember, that was when the great 359 rightfully joined the HOF!!!
The excitement on your face was awesome!
