Canburglar Battle Videos

Since champs is looming ahead in just under two weeks, I figured it would be a good idea to gather some videos of canburglar battles that have happened over the last 7 weeks of competition. A few threads discuss good canburglars and qualitative observations, but I hope this can serve as a collection of videos of the robots in action. I'll start off with some of our (MOE 365's) battles :)

2015 MAR Upper Darby Quarterfinals (link goes to thread) - 365 against 225, 225 secured both cans (ref made us move back and we didn't have time to readjust)

2015 MAR Championships Quarterfinals - 365 & 1089 against 1218, our alliance secured all 7 cans

Here is our tug-of-war with team 126 Gaelforce at the New England District Championship. I have to say I was impressed that our robot corrected its course so well with its gyro after the battle. I'm told that 126 didn't suffer any damage from their fall.

I compiled all of the can battles that we saw in playoffs of NECMP into a YouTube playlist. It appeared that many battles were not just won with speed, they were won in part by how the cans were repositioned as they were grabbed. For convenience, I added the videos that you posted and I will continue to do so for everyone and anyone that posts links on this thread, as well as posting any other videos of bin battles I see.

The video isn't as good but http://www.dptv.org/programs/first-robotics/

at 6:13:00 of finals, away from the camera is 1711 vs 27. They both go for the can and stall. 1711 wins in teleop because 27 retracts.

Here is a pretty nasty one from semifinal 6, the majority of it occurs during teleop surprisingly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI2a...YuS9q&index=10

Sadly, our tipping cost us that last spot -- can-in-hand, had the chance. Bloops.

Btw, the Ligerbots (2877) YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgN...7d58dVR-80DCGA has videos for the New England Championship that are far better than the official feed. We have all the playoff matches (except semi-finals 1 & 2 - my video crew lost interest when we didn't advance, but then I told them to turn the camera back on). We also, by and large, only filmed our own qualifying matches and those of team 1519 (since we borrowed their power).

I'm not done uploading the remainder of the semi-final matches, but they should all be there by tomorrow.

We had 2 battles throughout the season, both in the Finals of our Regionals.

Here is 3683 vs. 2056 at the Waterloo Regional: http://watchfirstnow.com/archives/122871175

I don't have the 3683 vs. 1114 battles from the Windsor Essex Great Lakes Regional, but I will update once I can.

Duly noted I added the videos from your channel (they were indeed of superior quality) it appears quater final 7 is missing from your channel. In any case a huge thank you to the LigerBots for providing high quality videos of all of their events up to and including district championships.

Not a battle but in qualification match 189 from MSC we got to line up side by side with 548 and get all 4 cans. I can only find this video but if anyone has any others please let me know!

Another MoE/Mercury battle here. This one went 2-1 to the MoE/Mercury side.

I can't remember another can-battle that ended up with each robot grabbing a single can, though.

Re: Canburglar Battle Videos

I would say this is the most "battle"-like can war to date: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RRx52dH7Qk
Just to keep a record, it was between 4486 and 399.
It is the Final 1 match from the San Diego Regional; the situation from which arose the red card controversy, and later, Frank's blog.

I don't think I've seen to date a can battle quite like this, with simultaneous grabs, and quite a struggle. Unfortunately, I fear we may be seeing quite a bit of this at champs, or at least in elims and on Einstein. With everyone trying to get those cans, I would bet many teams are adding can grabbers, or at least making theirs faster.

Finals 1 of SVR had a real tug of war between 971 and 5027 that ended with 5027's cheesecaked grabber breaking.

Re: Canburglar Battle Videos

4653 had two interesting battles at the MAR Champs:
Quarterfinal 3, where we steal a can out of 2729's telescoping canburglar arm. Their arm grabs the can during tele-op, and we are able to lift it higher and posses it. (Another view from this link.)
Semifinal 4 is another time, where 225's canburgular doesn't have the grip to take it out of our arm. (Again, 2nd PoV here.)

(Well played to both alliances, 225's landfill stacking is crazy!)

(Currently uploading a slightly more flattering video of you guys from Essex)

Re: Canburglar Battle Videos

Does anyone have match videos from Windsor/Essex?

Team 4976 debuted their Mantis arms at North Bay. It was a shaky start during qualifications - but by the time they were in eliminations they had basically guaranteed both bins.

Team 3710 - I don't think they had canburglars at the regional before North Bay - so the team worked on them throughout the regional and by Saturday had the other best canburglar of the regional.

In Semis 1 they go up against each other - http://watchfirstnow.com/archives/123588191

By the time 4976 competed at Windsor they were a well oiled machine. It would have been a great Canburglar Battle to see what would happen if they were to go up against 1114's old canburglars (the pool-noodle-arrow ones).

The moral of that story is to use autonomous mode 5 (grab and hold) rather than mode 3 (grab and lift). ::ouch::

I remember seeing that and thinking "Maybe 1519 can be stopped after all?"

And then that alliance still put up over 200 points.
