Wow, this looks like it's going to be fun! We're super excited to make lots of new friends this year and play with old ones.
Are we actually going to have a Qualification match with 1983?! Only time will tell  |

Re: Newton Division 2015
I'm from 3641, what a diverse group of teams (at least for us.) I expected that we'd be with a ton of other Michigan teams, but we're one of the few Michigan teams in the division,:ahh: But I certainly look forward to working with teams from all around the country, good luck Newton teams! :D
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Just a quick question, how many landfill bots do we have in Newton?
List of teams I know: 118 1741 1720 |
Re: Newton Division 2015
Quote:
I noticed this, too... When we were in Galileo in 2013, there were a few more Michigan teams than this, but again we were kinda isolated. A lot of them went to Curie that year, I think. It makes me really curious how FIRST decides which teams go to which divisions... |
Re: Newton Division 2015
3015 is pumped to bring our machine to the classic Newton Division.
At first glance, Newton has some incredibly fast canburglars in 118, 1678 and 3310. It's going to be interesting to see how alliance selections goes when you include all of the other great robots. Can't wait! |
Re: Newton Division 2015
Quote:
Looking at the online database the only other one I can see is 2158 but a lot of teams haven't filled it out. |
Re: Newton Division 2015
The Gila Monsters (3785) is proud and excited to be a part of Newton Division this year. This is the first time attending Championship.

537 is a landfill bot as well
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Team 3171 is capable of playing land fill. However we prefer to play from the human player station.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
We will almost definitely be seeing Newton in the grand finals. Probably rivaled by Carson.
This division is very top heavy |
Re: Newton Division 2015
Could someone start the scouting sheet for we can figure out who are all the great canburglar in the division? :D

587 is happy to be joining the fun and to be one of two teams representing NC in the Newton Division division. We can do land fill and are adding bin burglars for Champs.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
3574 is happy to join our Skunky friends in Newton. Funny to have both teams from Highline School District on one field.
You can add 3574 to the list of landfill bots, and the easiest one to spot. |
Re: Newton Division 2015
118 and 1678 have won together already this season (Sacramento-Week 4). My money's on them to get to Einstein.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
1466 is a landfill robot as well. We can't wait to compete with you guys!
|

5012 is excited to be playing on Newton this year!
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
So, Newton division, what features do you guys want to see in a robot for alliance selections?
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
3467 can play landfill but it isn't our preferred method. From the HP station we can make 2 6-stacks and cap them or do 4 5-stacks uncapped for our partner to cap (we usually have enough time to cap one of our own stacks). From the landfill we probably can do 2-3 5-stacks uncapped or 1-2 6-stacks capped but we haven't yet tested this theory.

Team 74 is happy to playing in Newton. I am glad to play in a division that isn't over run by michigan teams. I like to go to worlds and play with teams I don't get to play with all year.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Note: Newton lost a team and is now at a total of 75 (and is currently the smallest division).

Re: Newton Division 2015
1756
Have you changed your tether since the last match you showed (the three stack)? It appeared that your partner got caught on it. Can you explain? thanks!! You guys sure can stack... How do you use your can grabbers? Do you have to stack without your ramp then? We look forward to playing with you on Newton!! |

It's great to see another Washington team coming to Newton
Welcome Royals!! We look forward to playing with you!! :) |
Re: Newton Division 2015
Can we get something together maybe a google doc of robot pics from every team in newton. Would help alot of teams out.
We cant wait to show off a few new upgrades. |
Re: Newton Division 2015
Quote:
The can grabber can be used in Auto to grab 2 cans or during teleop to grab a single can. During playoffs we gave the ramp away so that we could have the option to do auto can grabber. However we found are 3 tote auto to be worth more points due to are teammate having a great can grabber. we can play without are ramp though. We have put up 2 stack of 6 and 1 stack of 5 from the land fill. I am pretty sure if we did it correctly we could put up 3 stack from the landfill. |
Re: Newton Division 2015

We look forward to playing with you on Newton!! You look like you have a terrific robot!! |

video from Tech Valley Regional (we are working on improvements this was our first tests of it :) ) [also at 2:33 you can see me throwing a noodle :D :o ] Here's our robot reveal that includes footage of our robots can grabber |

Re: Newton Division 2015
We are looking forward to seeing all of these great robots on Newton. We have made several upgrades, allowing us to turn our 5 stacks into 6 stacks, we can do at minimum 2 capped+noodled stacks. Also we are working on perfecting our 20 pt auto.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Like many other teams 587 will be upgrading our robot at championships. We've been testing a two bin grabber on our practice bot and it looks very encouraging. Can't wait to see it on the field. Also modified our arms so we can quickly stand bins upright as most of us seem to prefer them in that orientation.
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Anyone tried to make a 0.2 pound canburglar? ::rtm::
|
Re: Newton Division 2015
Our students just finished putting together a little highlight video of our robot at the two regionals we attended this year and it also includes a sneak peak of our new auton they have been working on.
Enjoy and see you all in a few days! https://youtu.be/NVTRUIfjxxU |

Re: Newton Division 2015
It's hard to win when the other alliance has 7 bins to your 3. Raw stacking power does you no good unless you have bins in your possession. Whoever pairs with 1678 will win Newton and whoever pairs with 971 will likely win their division also.
