Corner pit for the win!
Team 4329 has been practicing hard since our last regional in Week 4. We can now cap scored 5 stacks, can upright and work with cans in any orientation and have a 2 can grabber that we will be dialing in tonight on the practice fields. 2 Can Grabber Video: https://youtu.be/NglEznYpjng Bringing 1 can into the auto zone: https://youtu.be/GS1cBr7PVRQ?t=6s Drive practice from a few nights ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO_X8n8zB9w We can make 6 stacks from the feeder using our tethered ramp, co-op using our on-board integrated ramp, & grab totes from the landfill. We strongly believe we'd make a great 3rd or 4th bot on any alliance and hope to prove it this week! See you all tonight and good luck this weekend! |

Re: 2015 Hopper Division
I won't make any official Hopper predictions here, as I am currently proudly clicking a scoring trigger for the Hopper Division (as that just wouldn't be right afterall, and know fairly well the ones that currently rule the Inagural "Hop-Hop-Hopper" Highrolling Roost...(as my team plays w/ them & against them annually...too often against, and too rarely with them, but we have a friendly rivalry, and they earn well everything they ever receive by performing at very high levels constantly)...You'll know who I am, as I also align those totes at every corner most matches, and If I asked you nicely to push the bots back behind the number even once too many times, then I'm genuinely sorry, so accept my apologies now. But...my ankles just cannot take even 1 more whack on the tight backfield north field end, and any accidental encroachment onto that carpeted area, is encroachment onto the field of play this year.
And, those HP's may just also need very quickly...all of those very valuable grey totes you may just be using for a desk or a leaning post sometimes...LOL. (Or us to affect a quick repair of a Tote Chute...YES...TOTE CHUTE!) _______________________________ But, sitting here the night before draft time (just a tiny bit more than 6 hrs. to go before the 2015 FIRST FRC Champs Divisional Serpentine draft time), and having seen all the action on HOPPER FIELD really up rail close (sometimes a bit too many matches, due to connection issues faced over the last few days, though the crew worked very, very hard & not even got you back on schedule, but at one point actually ahead of schedule in the end, and had to s-l-o-w you down a bit). Not a prediction, though I fully envision a very tough & fast perfectly capped & littered wall building and landfill munching/human player ramp finishing off #1 seed, a fast 4 can snatcher that can also go back on any near misses too, and revert to canburglaring 1-2 or even 3 missed cans as soon as teleop starts if actually necessary (they actually have, & great canburglar won a great shelf can war of many I have personally witnessed, and they are exciting to say the least...something I personally thought day 1 (game release day in January), would certainly be the key to winning in 2015, and 2 human player station bots that are fast builders too to swap out if necessary....(Plenty of them in Hopper to go around there), all working together to give Carson, Curie and all the 6 rest, a great run for their money tomorrow. ____________________ But, then afain, I'm not the one doing the drafting of the Hopper Division...I'm just accurately tallying what you place in just the right places.....repeatedly! Whoever it is, I'm sure they will be very complementary to their hard charging attitude and usual, onfield performance. (And those 4 just may rule the roost and raise a Division Banner and much, much more). Though I'm also sure the others will also play as hard as they "can" to "litter up the place" and attempt to upset the Highrolling apple cart a bit too. The competition has at times been quite fierce on the field, and an extreme pleasure to watch from the immediate sidelines. Go HOPPER! (Thanks for allowing me to share your experiences by serving as part of the 2015 FIRST Champs Hopper Division Volunteer crew). It has been a fantastic crew to serve with so far (still another long day to go yet), and make new friends with in the FIRST Family. That 4 AM Alarm is just a few hrs. away now...Good Luck tomorrow all. (Why am I now craving Cheesecake?) |
Re: 2015 Hopper Division
Since many people were asking for it, here is 1676's full-field footage of Hopper Semifinal 2, where teams 987, 2826, and 2512 scored the official high score of 290 points in Recycle Rush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3h6WeeZBRI
A large percentage of our qualification and elimination match videos from Hopper are already posted, with the rest currently being uploaded. You'll be able to find them all in this playlist, and we'll be submitting them to The Blue Alliance as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...38hz9Y6nolxGWX |

Re: 2015 Hopper Division
Other info on disables and red cards during elims... (I was the scorekeeper referred to the game announcer as "larry" or "lar-bear")
-Red card #1: QF8- (forgot which team, they were on blue) another step crossing infraction due to reaching over the step to snare the handle on a container pointed away from the team's side. As it was (obviously) strategic, and thus an automatic red card. -Red card #2- already mentioned in the thread. -Disable: SF3- I had the unfortunate task of disabling (estopping) 33 due to their coach fiddling with their usb hub, which technically is part of the operator console and thus not to be touched by a coach during match play. Rules are rules, I was given the order, and so it was done. All in all it was fun |

All of 1676's full-field footage from the elimination matches on Hopper has now been posted, along with just under half of the qualification matches. The remaining videos will be uploaded soon. All of the matches, along with the opening and award ceremonies and alliance selections, will be put in this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...38hz9Y6nolxGWX, and the matches will also all be submitted to The Blue Alliance. Re: 2015 Hopper Division
Before we get too far away- I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone in the Hopper Division. I think we made the inaugural Hopper Division highly competitive.
Congrats to our winning alliance, 987, 2826, 4265 and 2512. Obviously you guys were incredible and we were blown away to just have a chance against you guys on the field. Huge thank you to our partners, 1218, 2614 and 343. We knew when our alliance formed we had all the check boxes ticked as far as what we wanted: 3 tote auto, quick landfill bot, consistent and fast HP stackers and a very quick can burglar. We had the time of our lives riding the wave all the way to Finals 3. Thanks for sharing the field with us. Congrats to everyone, and 125 looks forward to playing with everyone again someday! -Brando |

Just want to make a quick apology for the zooming errors in the first 20 or so qualification matches - we were briefly training our new media crew for next year on how to use the camera during the early matches on Thursday, so some of the matches are not zoomed in fully, while others are zoomed in just a smidge too much. It appears that the footage is fine after Qualification Match 20 or so though. Quote:

Re: 2015 Hopper Division
It was great to make new friends with 1218 and 125 and play again with old friends from down south - 343. MARS had a great time on Hopper and we came "this close" to pulling it off in that last match. 125's super fast can burglars and 1218's super strength when they got grappled were awesome to watch. Seeing 2826, 987, 2512, and our great friends on Secret City (4265) get so far on Einstein was impressive. We were honored to play with and against such great partners and class acts. That 6 of the 8 teams won Chairman's this year and another won Engineering Inspiration shows that great all around teams can also build and drive great machines. Hat's off to everyone who played in the Hopper finals. Admiral Hopper would have been pleased!
|
Re: 2015 Hopper Division
We appreciate the love, and I need to compliment you guys on those can grabbers- they were wickedly fast!
|
Re: 2015 Hopper Division
I just wanted to say that it was a pleasure watching everyone on Hopper compete. I was fortunate enough to be field reset for the weekend, and had an excellent time cleaning up the field after all of you :)
A particular shoutout to the winning alliance, 987, 2826, 4265, and 2512. You guys are truly everything FIRST stands for-- three Regional Chairman's wins, an Engineering Inspiration Award, three regional wins, a smattering of other awards, and both two WFFA and Dean's List Finalists between you, you represent some of the best FIRST has to offer. Your achievements both individually and together are incredible, and I am honored to have watched your teams perform well all weekend. A huge shoutout to our incredible field crew-- with people from literally all over the world of FIRST, from Israel to every District region, it was an incredible experience working with everyone. |
