We are from FRC Team, 2486, the CocoNuts, and we wanted to let you know about an opportunity at this year's FRC Championship called the Chairman's Exchange. This opportunity is open to all FRC teams, regardless of whether you have applied for the award.

What is a “Chairman’s Exchange”?

The Chairman’s Exchange (ChEx) was created by FRC Team 2486, the CocoNuts, in 2012 and was first implemented at the Phoenix Regional in 2013. Since then, ChEx has been hosted at the World Championship and regional competitions in 2013, 2014 and again at 15 regionals this season. ChEx is an opportunity for Chairman’s Teams, at a set time on Thursday before presentations, to get together to practice their presentations and Q & A. It can also be a great source of ideas for teams who would like to apply for the Chairman’s Award in the future. ChEx has been very successful so far, with more than 65 teams attending ChEx events in the past two years and around 150 teams in attendance at FRC events this year.

Why is the Chairman’s Exchange Important?

Not only does the Chairman’s Exchange allow teams to practice before their official presentation, it is a friendly and welcoming environment to exchange ideas and ask questions among teams. ChEx also promotes collaboration, diversity, and friendship among Chairman’s teams that reaches beyond the competition. Looking ahead, we hope that the Chairman’s Exchange will continue to increase the transparency of Chairman’s teams and the award as a whole.

Has the Chairman’s Exchange Been Successful So Far?

ChEx has been very successful since its inception. Within the past two years, the Chairman’s Exchange has included more 65 teams at the regional level, as well as at Championships. This year we reached 15 FRC events equaling around 150 teams. We hope that eventually ChEx will spread to every FRC event across the globe.

If you are interested in participating in or attending the Chairman's Exchange at the 2015 FRC Championship, it will be on Wednesday, April 22nd at 4:00 pm at the round tables upstairs in the America's Center. For directions look for signs indicating where the Exchange will be held or talk to us in the pits beforehand.
