Even the X robots drive into a bar joke is funnier than the supposed joke used to start this thread.

Or to put it another way: If someone has to read your "joke" multiple times and it's still not obvious you're telling a joke after that, there's a good chance that they'll think you're serious. That's probably what triggered this.

Mods, I think this thread may need to be closed for a while, and maybe someone can try again with a different opening?

I'd love to hear the mentor built joke.

Its just a thread, I don't know why people are getting so offended...

And why even say "Mods, I think this thread needs to be closed..."... If you don't like it, then why even click it?

Anyhow, due to popular request, I guess, a new FIRST joke...
I barley passed my Programing class... I got C++. I only passed because i had some Java in my system.

This thread is already just completely ruined with people arguing over recycle rush.... in may. I'm calling a flame thread if I've ever seen one, which is a shame because this could have been a funny thread, but nope, got to argue about recycle rush instead.

How do you kill a joke?

Bring up a touchy subject....

Be in FIRST long enough and pretty much every game is hated in one way or another. Nowadays all the hate is pretty meaningless to me. You don't know how good a game is till you have seen worse.

Onto more jokes! (and more tasteful hopefully)

Am I crazy for thinking it's wrong for people to say this is a bad game, and act as if them saying it just makes it a universal fact? I'm fine with everyone having an opinion. I get that, but some of us actually liked this game. Both as a driver and a spectator.

Also just needed to add in on an unrelated/related note. Every year I've been in FRC, the first couple weeks after the game has been released, everyone on CD seems to act as if the sky is falling with how terrible they think it is. We sure to know how to complain...

Just a thought. :)

I've always been a firm believer in thinking that hating on a game is wrong. First of all no one is making you stay in FIRST, if you hate it that much, why not just join VEX or something. Besides, the game is only a bonus to what FIRST is really about. FIRST is not and never will be about the the game. We all know it, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, not for recognition of competition and game. Its something I've seen progressively over the years, people becoming more focused about the game than rather about learning life long skills, which is disheartening. I know i'm going probably going to get lots of hate for this but i know everyone has an opinion, and there's nothing you can do to change that. I understand that, but when you complain about it constantly it's annoying and ruins it for others.

The same could be said about the people who believe Recycle Rush was good. It's not a universal truth, but I am very willing to bet that it's a majority opinion.

I didn't say universal opinion or majority opinion, I would be fine if it was a universal opinion. I said universal fact

I don't even know if I'm joking. This thread is quite the paradox.

Putting on my English teacher hat:
I *believe* (but am not sure) that the the OP intended to come across as sarcastic, perhaps even satirical. But it's important to remember that sarcasm is difficult to convey in the written language and is rarely taken humorously. It's usually intended to be funny but instead received as insulting. Just because you SAY something is a joke, doesn't mean that it is funny.

In other words: Comedy is for the comedian to design but the audience to judge.

It was satirical humor. It was suppose to not taken with a grain of salt. Thanks for clearifying it.
