"FIRST Canada is very happy to announce the addition of 2 more off season events for the fall of 2015. A big thank you to the teams and regions that stepped up to provide these events for everyone to enjoy. We would ask that teams that are already signed up for the Fall Fiesta do not switch events at this stage. It is our hope that all these events will fill. If your team is currently signed up for the FalTHl Fiesta and wants to attend another event, please submit your application and should there be room, you will be allowed to attend more than one event once we ensure that all teams who wish to can attend one event minimum."

We're excited to be exciting to co-host this event with MakeShift 4039. The STEMley cup is scheduled for mid November, so it will be your last chance to play Recycle Rush(+). Honestly, don't you owe your 2015 robots one last chance before sending them to the big pit in the sky? :D

Re: 2015 STEMley Cup Championship

As the school year starts, we want to remind you that the first ever STEMley Cup Championship will take place in Hamilton on Saturday November 14. Registration closes soon, so we need you to act fast. If you were sitting on the fence, here are a couple reasons you should join us:
  1. Hockey field trip / social! In keeping with our theme, join us after the tournament on Saturday evening at the First Ontario Centre to see the hometown Hamilton Bulldogs OHL team meet the Ottawa 67s. We have arranged discount ticket prices, and an FRC robot may just have a part to play in the game!
    .
  2. Trading Cards! What respectable hockey-themed robotics competition would be complete without a robot hockey trading cards? The STEMley Cup creative team will be designing a collector card for each team that competes. Teams will be given random packs of cards at the door. More cards and a limited number of STEMley Cup Championship Card Displays will be available for sale at the commissary. Trade and collect the full set!
    .
  3. Compete alongside some of the best Recycle Rush teams in the area, including Einstein field competitors! Check out the list of registered teams.
    .
  4. Rookie Partnerships! We are instituting a “buddy system” to assist rookie teams in attending their first competition. Veterans teams who register with a rookie team buddy will be given special recognition (and reduced registration cost) in return.
    .
  5. Help a Good Cause: The STEMley Cup will organize a LEGO drive to support the St. Mary CSS D.R.E.A.M.S. program (Dominican Republic Education and Medical Support).

Contact us via email, stemleycup@gmail.com, or better yet register through our website. Act fast! Registrations must be submitted *before September 24!* https://stemleycup.wordpress.com/registration/ .

If your team is already confirmed for STEMley you can look forward to receiving lunch and hockey ticket pre-order forms soon.

See you all in November!

We've had a great response so far for the STEMley cup championship, but we're still looking for more teams! We'd love to have more from New York, Ohio and Michigan - your dollar goes like 30% further here :)

As promised, we're making a hockey card for every team that attends the STEMley cup championship. Here's a draft of the first three to whet your appetite. Register online and we'll make one for your team too. Join us in November for the chance to collect them all. See you soon!

Re: 2015 STEMley Cup Championship

Exactly two weeks left until the winning alliance hoists the STEMley Cup!

We can't wait to see how teams approach the first ever end game for Recycle Rush:

"Each alliance receives one (1) additional coloured bonus TOTE. This TOTE, which starts the MATCH in the ALLIANCE STATION, can only be introduced to the field through the TOTE CHUTE in the final twenty (20) seconds of the MATCH. This coloured TOTE doubles the point value of any scoring TOTE stack of which it is a part. (ie. a six-TOTE stack with RECYCLING CONTAINER and LITTER would normally score 42 points. If the coloured TOTE is present as one of the six TOTES, the stack will now count for 84 points)."

I like it.

I realized a better scoring that might have helped teams that had difficulty capping would have been to change the stack scoring to linear progression points instead of 2 points per tote. There is no advantage to building stacks vs. placing them singlely on the scoring platform. The scoring could have been 1+2+3+4+5+6. Total stack = 21 instead of 12, and a 3 stack scores the same as before. The mid level teams would have done much better. I think 3 stacks uncapped was achievable by many teams, and they would have had 63 points.

Here's the coveted inaugural STEMley Cup T-Shirt! The shirts are already out for printing, but if you still want one we might be able to arrange an order after the event. Place your order here: http://goo.gl/forms/LZdpWvjfru

Will you ship those shirts to the US or does one have to attend the event to get one?

Thanks.

We can arrange shipping, sure! You would have to cover the postage, and they likely won't arrive for a couple of days after the event. If that's cool, fill out an order form and we'll get back to you with a shipping estimate.

More cool stuff:

The STEMley Cup Championship "hockey cards" just went out to print. I've attached (reduced quality) proofs. Each attending team will get a bunch of their own cards, printed on high quality glossy card stock. Teams can keep their cards, or trade with others. Individual cards will also be available for sale at our concession stand for a small fee each (or a full deck at a discount). They were a bit of work to make, so I hope everyone likes theirs!

The T-Shirt question up-thread got me thinking that some people might be interested in ordering STEMley cards too. Let us know, and if there's enough interest we'll open up an order form for them too.

The cards look awesome!

I noticed one mistake, I don't think KingTec borrowed 5759's robot as we have it currently.

Oh fudge, it's supposed to be 5519. Stop the presses (and let me know if you notice any other errors).
