No MARC stream this year
 

Hey all,

I wanted to stop over here and let you know that MARC 2015 is not going to be streamed online, and MARC will likely not be streamed in the future.

There are a few reasons for this. Primarily, it's just too much work for the small number of people we get watching the stream. I've been running the stream and MARCStats pretty much by myself since 2010/11 when I first attended MARC. I've long since graduated high school and moved out of the area, so I'm not able to make the preparations or maintain the software like I used to.

Another issue is that we have to make prior arrangements with IT to enable streaming on the locked down school network. Our equipment is also rather dated and with the heat in the gym it's hard to keep my computers from overheating and killing the stream (this happened last year).

So overall, limited viewership, bandwidth, and manpower (me) means that we cannot reasonably continue streaming our event. To those who enjoyed our webcast in the past, I appreciate your support, and I'm sorry that we can't keep it up.

Oh, that's too bad, I liked streaming it in the pit so we can see what's going on. We appreciate your past work, and I get why the computers shut down in that heat - we've popped breakers before during matches :D

Yeah, I remember that happening a few times. A couple years back MARC had an extended lunch because the match database got corrupted after an FMS crash too. I don't recall if that was related to a power failure that day though.

I might still be able to set up a pit display, but we'll probably be using the TV to show rankings. I don't think we'll be able to use the overhead TVs this year either.

Are any teams in attendance planning on filming the matches and posting them on youtube later? Thank you for all you're hard work in years past.

It doesn't look like that's happening this year either. At least we don't have the usual GoPro on a pole set up this time.

No problem, are the results being posted anywhere? If not no big deal just missing FIRST like everyone else!

I don't think the fms has Internet.. Wasn't among the top concerns in setup.

If I get time at the end of the day I'll post match results and rankings. Matches were supposed to end at 7 but we're an hour behind.

If you can get the FMS Report exports (Teams Attending, All Results, Rankings) - we can get you keys to upload them to TBA. PM me if you get the chance.

Sorry about that, getting the playoff matches recorded would've required the schedule which was another FMS import. The TBA page is complete. Bees HOT, and Foley Freeze barely lost in Finals 2 166-171 due to their auton nearly missing causing a third match in where Truck Town Thunder and The Flying Toasters took the crown. Gratz guys!
