Re: 4607 has its own computer!

I like the idea of having a disc drive. I have a ton of 4gb and 512mb discs at home, so I use them for personal backups. Plus we own a lot of really old games (like legoland) some of which I can't pirate, so I need the drive for that. Although I could just buy a USB disc drive I guess.
That being said, neat computer! It appears to have some pretty nice specs. Is it possible to open it up and increase RAM to 16gb?

Heck, even my Dell Precision laptop doesn't have an optical drive! A laptop MEANT for grunty work including video.

As the original requester, this thread is making me feel old now, ugh. Waiting for a "senior" mentor to come in and request a floppy drive just so I feel a bit younger. Long live the days of VCDs and Divx, and those amazing Black Friday sales of 50-packs of CD-R's for $15 after mail-in rebate.

Another comment though if I may: I'm surprised to see a modern build optimized for video editing with no eSATA ports. Ever since the death of Firewire I've used eSATA extensively.

:) only a couple dollars, will be availabe in the accessories category on our website

That will be possible yes, along with the option to add an optical drive if you choose. It will be customizable on our site. The website is currently undergoing huge work, and will be published and made available as soon as possible

Edit: read your comment wrong earlier.. Yes, you can add your own ram. The motherboard has 4 ram slots, and only 2 are used. (2x4gb)

I thought feelings weren't invented until 2007?

Actually, Pixar just invented them this year

Back on topic, I like the build. Best of luck with this, 1706 is currently looking at a computers, but we need CUDA for (speeding up) deep learning.

I could see us getting one or two of these down the road a year or so considering our CAD desktops were donations from a local engineering firm and the things are from the 80s. They came with their very own state of the art cathode ray tube monitors :)

Maybe you could add a peripheral package? (Monitor, mechanical keyboard, and mouse)

Glad you mentioned that, there will be really nice bundles available including a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Many other useful accessories will be available also, such as mini Bluetooth/WiFi dongles and other adapters. These and many more will be available at the new Lanzer website which should be up sometime tomorrow.

Also, due to consumer demand, the L4607 base model now features an optical disk drive at NO additional cost to the current retail price! :)

That's right, all the old-timers can now enjoy an optical drive in their L4607. We really thought that we would not be having a drive, but the demand seems to be high according to all the requests we have received for one, so we have now decided to add one without raising the price as well.

Expect a link to the new site anytime now, keep an eye open
