Summer Swerve Project

1 Attachment(s)
This is the current project that I am working on.
The "cream" colored parts above the module are 3d printed, similar to those on 1991's 2015 swerve modules, except much smaller.

Looks very light and strong. A few questions:
-Any reason why you chose to go with a live axle instead of a dead axle (or are you just using a 7/8" bolt)?
-How are you constraining the pulley on the CIM shaft radially?
-Are you broaching the bottom miter gear for a 1/2" hex shaft?
-What are your free speeds and weight?

I will be changing it to a 3/8" dead axle, keeping it as it is for now to allow an easier time when putting in different setups (i.e. sprockets, pulleys, gears)
The bottom miter gear will be a keyed 1/2" bore, and the rest of the shaft will be 1/2" hex.
Free speed is currently 15.89 ft/s with a 5.83:1 reduction. Will be reduced more if I change the top HTD pulleys to GT2. The weight will be posted once I add the rest of the parts.

Where is that miter gear coming from? I haven't found a good source for keyed miters yet. Unless you already own a key broach and not a hex (which I would recommend buying; they're quite useful, if expensive).
16fps is a good number.

This is a 1/2 keyed miter gear that has the same DP and teeth count as the vexpro miter gears. It's expensive though, at $82 a set.
Does the OP have a cheaper source?
FWIW, I do agree that a hex broach comes in handy.

This is the miter gear I have chosen.
I will be looking into using a 1/2" Hex broach for it, thank you for the recommendation.

Also, the weight is roughly 6.75 pounds.
