Hello everyone!



First Updates Now, a new web-show will be premiering its pilot episode on Tuesday, July 14th at 9pm EST. Joining me to make sure the show brings a handsome and charismatic side will be Karthik Kanagasabapathy from FRC1114 Simbotics!

What is First Updates Now?

First Updates Now is a podcast with an unofficial video feed that focuses on the latest and most popular news, discussions, and events. Some segments of the show focus around discussions that are trending subjects on CD, while others maybe just there to make you laugh.

FUN will have segments that discuss FRC events (such as IRI), but there is so much more!

Speaking of which to kickoff our pilot episode, I need some help from you!

Quick Draw with Karthik:

Post in this thread with short questions that Karthik can answer in less than a second. Example: Favorite FRC Game? You can also submit questions for Karthik to firstupdatesnow@gmail.com

One audience member will also have the opportunity to face Karthik 1v1 live on air on a game TBA (that's To Be Announced, not The Blue Alliance). So if you are watching live, have Skype ready to call in.

As this is a pilot episode, I will be looking for feedback from you on how we can improve the show. A survey link will be posted in this thread at a later time.

The next episode will take place before Chezy Champs where we will settle once and for all which largely geographically based event is really the champion of off-season events.

This is great. I've been wanting another FRC podcast to listen to. You can only listen to the EWCP podcasts so many times before you get tired of them. Also, I wish Gamesense uploaded the audio in podcast form. I've got a 25 minute commute each way from work, so I power through a lot of podcasts in a week.

Same here, though the 25 minutes is to FRC meetings as opposed to work. I'm always glad to have more quality audio content available.

Yeah, I have another 25 minutes to FRC meetings as well...So 1.5 to 2 hours in the car everyday.

Thank you everyone for your submissions! I got about 10 emails as well so I will try to fit in as many as possible. I will still accept submissions through the end of the day. While the Quick Draw segment is meant for short questions, you never know if our guest will answer any others so keep them coming!

Which past FIRST game would you like to play another season of (current control system, motor allowances, knowledge base, etc) if any?

Battlebots has shown that you can broadcast a robotics competition with less than 9 minutes of gameplay per hour and draw a respectable audience. As an MC and game designer for robotics competitions, should creating a broadcast-able product be priorities for FIRST or VEX in an attempt to change culture?

I'd encourage more people to call in for future episodes...not every day that you get to play Rando Calrissian (is that right?) against one of the coolest people in FIRST. I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to my 1114 shirt arriving in the mail...thanks Karthik!
