I was trying to trace back my old team's (45) path through the bracket of doom and it's pretty confusing.

Thanks so much for that information!

I do have one question however. How was it decided which teams were on each side ("Winner's" or "Loser's") of the bracket?

They kept score that year... and winning was a thing.

Actually, I'm going to go for one of my favorite old threads, dedicated to discussion of the Bracket of DOOM! There's a link to a picture of the bracket for 1998 (incidentally, the last year of that type of bracket).

On another note: I 100% agree with Ed. That TechnoKats History Project is really great for finding little gems of past games--I often go straight there when I'm working up a new "simplified game rules" for my strategy workshop.

This makes more sense... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFOvldn_IRw

Cool idea! I'm not sure how many teams still have their Maize Craze robot (maybe 126 does, I don't know), but it still sounds like a fun event!

I think 190 still might have their robot. However I think they intend to make new robots as a design exercise.

20 brought their robot to FLR to display. FIRST has our robot at FIRST place. They do not intend to give it back. 148,151, 45 and 111 probably would not attend.

I managed to figure out how the team names seeming suddenly teleport to the other side of the bracket. Sorry for asking! And now to code this in my Field Management System......

45 brings the '92 robot to many events throughout the year such as the Kokomo District Qualifying Event.

If I might make a suggestion, it might be more fun (and easier) to do it the old-fashioned way.

Take a big sheet of paper (or a whiteboard, or some equivalent) and draw the whole bracket. Give each match a number. Then, for the second round and beyond, each spot in each match gets a number, dash, and number--representing the match feeding it and which result from that match it is.

You could also do this in a particularly creative way, but that would probably be harder (or would it be more fun?)
