FRC Team 525 Swartdogs on Chinese News!

On the back of The Chinese Robotics Challenge in Shenzhen last week, international team 525 got a mention in the local news, along with two other new chinese teams. Way to go 525!

A great face for all of the US, Australia and Brazil teams that helped make another successful CRC event in China.

Congrats to 525 and all of the other teams and their volunteers who worked so hard to provide workshops and a FIRST class (pun intended) off-season event. I am so proud of all the organizers and volunteers (especially my team of course :) ). Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the event this time but loads of FB posts showed dramatic improvement in the venue and operational aspects of this second year event. Kudos to our Chinese friends for an awesome production! You will not find a friendlier, more committed host than those associated with CUYRA and CRC...and I am looking forward to our return next year.

It just goes to a page with a bunch of buttons on it for me, no video appears. Does the video player use some weird plugin or something? Also, what browser are you using?

Same here. I'm using Chrome on Linux.

Firefox. I didn't add anything special.

Weird, I thought it might be running on HTML5 or something if you had been using Chrome, but I was also using Firefox and I can't get anything. Maybe some kind of weird region lock? Or it's blocked by my ISP?...

EDIT: Disable Adblock, it works now.

It will be tough to top this event. The event overall was great and the sightseeing in between the workshop and scrimmage was great. The Li River Cruise was awesome - the rain let up just in time to see the best part of the river.

Here's a pic of JVN pushing a bamboo raft along. (This raft trip was the day after the Li River Cruise.)

Jealous... but looking forward to the Li River in October. Thanks for the pics and the updates!

The CRC event was actually mentioned on CCTV's "Xinwen Lianbo", which is watched by more than 100 million people nationwide everyday.http://v.qq.com/page/k/0/x/k0017spl60x.html. I'm surprised at this because "normal" news don't get on this show, the government is very involved in the production of this news program.

Quote:

The CCTV's main evening news broadcast Xinwen Lianbo has a daily audience of around 135 million people, and it is also one of the most expensive shows in the world per advertising spots, with its 2013 advertising slots selling for a record of 5.4 billion yuan.

This program is used as a medium for the state to announce government announcements and meetings, commentaries on major economic and policy issues, and the activities of national leaders. The program reflects official positions of the Chinese government on a wide range of matters. Some accuse the program as serving more as a means for the state to divulge its political agenda rather than to examine the day's important news events. It has been criticized both within China and internationally for its lack of neutrality. Despite declining popularity, it remains a widely watched program.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinwen_Lianbo
