Re: Team Math

In a situation which makes a surprising amount of sense:

(MVRT∨Citrus Circuits)∧Poofs = Poofs

This is using the binary representation of the decimal team numbers, not the binary representation of the ASCII text.
00000000 00000000 00000000 01110011 (115)
or
00000000 00000000 00000110 10001110 (1678)
=
00000000 00000000 00000110 11111111 (255)
and
00000000 00000000 00000000 11111110 (254)
=
00000000 00000000 00000000 11111110 (254)

which makes perfect sense because of the range of the particular team numbers.

I learned how to use Excel's Solver add-in to find the Hall of Fame Chairman's Award winner that add up to 2781. (I used 191 twice because they've won twice) It was a really fun project!

597(The Wolverines)+359(Hawaiian Kids)+341(Miss Daisy)+236(Techno Ticks)+111(WildStang)+67(The HOT Team)+103(Cybersonics)+175(Buzz)+22(Double Deuce)+16(Baxter Bomb Squad)+23(PNTA)+47(Chief Delphi)+144(Operation Orange)+151(Purple Twister)+191(X-Cats)+7(The Labsters)+191(X-Cats)=2781(RoboPride)

Yes. There's multiple ways to easily incorporate them back in into the equation. I'm curious how many ways people can come up with.

The hardest part was figuring out what the easiest way to get a list of team numbers and names. I ended up using Ed Law's spreadsheet. See attached. To reduce download size, I removed most of the team name output, but there's enough to see how I did it.

If you think about it, a lot of the consecutive numbered teams (or close to consecutive numbered) can be subtracted in pairs to form small numbers like 1 or 2, so you just keep adding or subtracting the differences of pairs until you hit your target.

Example: 5717 - 5716 + 5715 - 5714 + 5713 - 5712
Rewrite as: (5717 - 5716) + (5715 - 5714) + (5713 - 5712)
Simplifies to: 1 + 1 + 1

Re: Team Math

take any three-digit team number with unique first and last numbers (254).

reverse, subtract smallest from largest

452 - 254 = 198

Reverse that and add it to itself

198 + 891 = 1089!

Also, we're a perfect square (killer bees ^ 2)

1225 (Gorillas) would do well if they ever came to a California event of this style.

A situation like this actually could have happened last year in the Rhode Island District Event. Team 61 picked team 176, which added together makes 237. Sadly, 237 was a second pick for a lower seeded alliance, but fortunately that made room for us as the second pick :D

I like 5712 it's a nice number. ;)

I took an idea from another person in this thread. I took really good teams and combined them to make my (really good:D) team.

Simbotics + OP Robotics + Robonauts + Robowranglers + Las Guerrillas + Cheesy Poofs - Beach Bots - Blizzard - Team RUSH - Truck Town Thunder - Killer Bees - JUGGERNAUTS = Spartatroniks
