A message from REV Robotics

As we kickoff a new FTC season today and the new FRC season is just around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to share some of our thoughts on the status and direction of REV Robotics.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

As the video stated we are also have launched our new building system sized directly for FTC, you can check out more information on our website.

Thanks,

Greg

The game looks fun.

My only concern is the definition of 'control' as it looks easy to heard 5 pieces accidentally during autonomous.

I salute you for this message and approach. One of my pet peeves has been the inflated prices charged by one of the - ahem - favored suppliers to FRC, a near monopoly. I hope that your approach will catch on and spread through all levels of FIRST

The programmable servo is listed under FRC. I believe those specs are over the FRC limit of 4 watts. I get 10.68 watts. Until there is a season that FRC changes the 4 watt limit, Maybe it should be listed under FTC only.

Thanks for pointing that out Gdeaver. I'll go ahead and remove the servo from the FRC category.

We calculate our max output power as: Max Power = (1/2 Stall Torque)(1/2 Free Speed). Therefore our Smart Robot Servo has a max output power of 2.67W.

We thought this would meet the 4W limit, but previous FRC rules dictate that the max power is calculated as: Max Power = (Stall Torque)(Free Speed). This method produces 10.68W like you said before.

FTC rules are worded differently: <RE04> "A Robot is constructed with a maximum of eight (8) motors and twelve (12) servos. Any compatible servo may be used."

We can't speak for FIRST or the FRC GDC. If the power limit or the method to calculate power changes, we'll make another adjustment to the site.

They are not available yet, but will be available at either AndyMark and/or our new Amazon store front when it launches.

If international teams need parts we are also willing to work directly with you to find the most cost effective way of delivering them.

I have only one question: African or European swallows?

Do you have any idea when the CAD models will be up on the site?

All of the CAD for the brackets are up now, we have not put all of the 3d for sprockets and gears up yet, but will before they are available. If there is a specific model you are looking for please let me know.

The CAD model I am looking for the most is the: REV 15mm – Linear Motion Kit.

I wish I had used some of your products before, but I guess I'll have to now. The business ethos you expressed in that video is definitely something I can get behind. Here's hoping you guys down in Texas can continue to make great products for a long time!

I just posted the CAD for the linear motion parts and an example assembly, enjoy!

Awesome. Thank you! We saw the 15mm bars at Worlds, and love them. Looks like we will be using them in this years game! Time to download the CAD and get building!
