Re: How old is your oldest robot

We have a bot from 2011. However it no longer has the mechanisms on it. It has been repurposed to launch t-shirts. It still has the original chassis including the frame, wheels, gearboxes, and motors. However, everything else has changed. We did have a 2012 chassis for testing purposes but it has been disassembled. The 2013 robot from the team that our team spawned from still exists and is in working order but is under the ownership of the school that our old team was apart of. Our 2014 bot is still assembled but we have taken some electronics from it so it's not functional at the moment. It would be easy to repair, however. So I guess our oldest functional robot is from 2015.

Our oldest working robot is our 2012 robot. The entire control system has been redone three times, and the wheels have been replaced with more floor-friendly wheels. Our oldest chassis is from 2010.

Both of 4901's robots are intact. Sandstorm I isn't operable, last I checked, but it still looks like it did at Championship and SCRIW.

Good thing too--we got the opportunity to display a robot at the South Carolina State Fair in the 4-H booth, which happens to overlap with SCRIW (where Sandstorm II will be competing). If Sandstorm I was gone, we wouldn't be able to take on this opportunity!

We recycled 2007 and 2013. All others are stored in the spud shed.

2012 looks good from 10 feet away but is missing too much to run.
2013 can still shoot a Frisbee but the climber bits are removed.
2014 and 2015 are still fully functional.
Chunks of earlier machines lurk in the darker corners.

2013 - On it's last leg performance-wise because it's in rough shape, but still perfectly functional (for now) since we use it for parades and demos.
2014 - Functional but it isn't used as much.
2015 - Still up and running since we have more off-season events to go to.

2015....
Cannibalism is a thing for robots on our team.

I'm pretty sure our 2013 robot is somewhere and is in mostly working condition, it kind of didn't work very well though. 2010 technically also is still around but it's a T-Shirt cannon now.

2014 is especially active, we use it for demos. 2015 is pretty broken as of now, but we're going to an Off Season event soon so we'll probably end up fixing it. Probably.

Re: How old is your oldest robot

20's oldest working machine is our 2006 robot (I believe. We just did a bunch of restoration work so that our 2010 and 2006 robots function again).

20's oldest robot is our 1992 robot, which we often display at our pits at competitions. If you're ever at an event with us, come check it out, it's really cool to see.

5254's oldest working machine is our... um... 2015 robot.

1073 has their 2012 robot sitting on a cart currently... It would only drive if it had wheels, which then makes our 2014 our oldest fully-functioning robot. Our 2010 robot was assembled until last year, but I think the frame is still floating around in the shop somewhere...

Re: How old is your oldest robot

330 has every robot since 2004 in a storage area above the robot room. 2002 and 2003 are believed to still be in the old robot room at the Redondo Beach power plant.
2004 needs to have the controller reconnected.
2005 (our World Champion) runs, but is missing a few parts.
2006 is just a frame with one or random two motors.
2007 is currently being refurbished. (It worked before, but had some issues)
2008 works, but needs some wheels.
2009 has been stripped of most of its electronics.
2010-2012 have had some components transferred to practice robots, but are mostly complete.
2012 is downstairs to marvel at, it just needs some new belts on the shooter.
2013 has been stripped of everything that could be reused.
2014 is being used as a defense bot, but may be replaced by 2007.
2015 had a bit of water damage after the roof leaked (:ahh:), but still has everything except for the RoboRio.
2016 is in a giant plastic bag.

We've had practice robots every year since 2007, but their components are transferred to the next years practice robot or used as spares.

We plan to refurbish 2005 and 2008 during off season. (luckily, we still have a massive trackball that we can use to demo)

Re: How old is your oldest robot

We have most of our old robots in the shop or in a shed outside the school. Although most of them haven't run in years... So I can't say for sure which ones would still work if we tried to get them to. 2005 and prior are badly disassembled, as well as 2007 and unfortunately 2014. If we tried, we may be able to get some of them back in working condition. The only relatively old robots I have seen work recently are 2013 and 2011.

We have our 1995 bot still, but not sure it's in running condition.

2013, 2012, and 2011 are still in the shop with 2013 the only fully functional we salvaged 2014 and 2015 for parts

Re: How old is your oldest robot

2006, from back when TechFire was named something completely different (BearBotics I think). The team shut down for two years after that before it was rebooted by completely new people at a new organization (it really should have been a rookie team). Somehow this robot has survived.
