Our robot at GRITS will be almost completely different. It will either work or fail spectacularly. That's for everyone to find out. I know the suspense is already killing me... |
Re: GRITS 2015
Wicked excited to get to ref my second GRITS. It was a challenging blast last year, and I'm ready for round 2!

Re: GRITS 2015
1261 is excited to be returning to GRITS this year (especially after such a great competition at X-Bots in Albany this summer)! We'll be helping out one of the rookie teams there and letting them get some competition experience using our 2015 practice robot which is always a great experience!
Huge shout out to Walton for being willing to host such a great event, we're looking forward to helping you guys out! Watch for lots of volunteers coming your way! :) It should be a great event, I always love getting to see most of the Georgia teams in one place. ______________ Mackenzie Glaser Robo Lions 1261 |
Re: GRITS 2015
We are looking to hosting it with the help of our many friends. Not the same size space as last year in the world congress center, but free parking and we let you bring your own food. The field will be on the basket ball court with seating for all. The pits will be in the Aux gym a short covered breeze walk away.

Re: GRITS 2015
This event caught me by surprise, as it is only 3 or 4 miles from where I live. Looking forward to a visit, and not being on a team I can actually have some fun!:D

Re: GRITS 2015
Team 2415 is looking forward to this event! Always good to see some Georgia friends. Hopefully we live up as a "powerhouse team". We're changing some things on the team to attempt to get there down the road. Thanks Walton for hosting such an event!

Re: GRITS 2015
GRITS was a huge success and thanks to Walton Robotics team 2974 for hosting it.
Huge undertaking but great results. |
Re: GRITS 2015
First time Grits was hosted by a school. We learned a lot about the dynamics of hosting an event at a school. The event went well (I think). A lot of work by a lot of people made it so. The tireless Ga First volunteers. All the teams that attended. Many First Alumni, some traveling from far away Florida. All pitched in and helped in a typical Gracious Professional way that sets First apart from many other organizations.

Re: GRITS 2015
What were the results? Can someone post a recap? Alliance selections, etc?
|
Re: GRITS 2015
Uh, I believe these were the results (team numbers may be slightly off):
1) 2974 4188 4468 2) 4112 3140 4749 3) 4189 1261 1648 4) 5109 1661 1746 (1) v (3) in finals. (1) was the winner. - Sunny G. |
Re: GRITS 2015
Great tournament! Thanks Walton for all the work.
Here is a video of the 208 point round in the semi-finals I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkA8p2KndZ0 Fernbank, FRC4468, worked the landfill and made some fast and clean stacks of 5 and Walton, FRC2974, made its own stack of 6 fully capped plus came over and took the Fernbank liberated cans on the step and capped two stacks of 5. Columbus Space Program, FRC4188, stayed in the corner and made a fully capped 6 and 5. There were 3 pool noodles thrown to the other side for 12 points. |

Working on posting video from the webcast to YouTube. Elimination matches are still pending due to music copyright issues with YouTube, but I should have those up shortly.

There was definitely enough room at the school to run a district event, and from what I saw it could be made to happen, perhaps some time in the future. One step at a time though. |
