If you decline, then when registration opens up for the second event, you are trying to register for two events. The kicker to this is FiM will hold some registration spots in reserve, for rookie teams that are in the process of forming. Last two years this reserve was 10 teams, so when registration opens for the first and second times, you are registering for events that only have a 30 team capacity. This tends to fill up fast, and ends with many teams being wait listed, and not sure of where they will compete until weeks into the build season. Which just adds stress to the whole process. So my advise is if you can make your home event, better register for it on Thursday. :) |

Just received email about home events from FiM, below is the list of teams and assigned home events. 345 teams listed. Teams per Home event. 17 Waterford 23 Livonia 39 Kettering 20 West Michigan 21 Southfield 30 Centerline 14 Troy 17 Kentwood 18 Woodhaven 19 Midland 16 Escanaba 16 St. Joseph 12 Howell 14 Lansing 29 Traverse City 21 Gull Lake 7 Marysville 12 Standish-Sterling So if they reserve 10 registration spots for rookies. Kettering will be wait listed, Centerline and Traverse City will be full after round 1 of registration. Also of note of the "Gary" rule did not apply, my friends the Ubly Bearcats that is in the middle of the thumb, team 5155 Home event is Standish. Ubly to Marysville 75 miles Ubly to Midland 72 miles Ubly to Standish 86 miles Standish has 12 home teams, Marysville has 7. Code:

Re: pic: Voronoi Diagram of Michigan Districts LP
So I just thought of this. With event registration coming up this week, when will a list be published will all the new rookie teams joining FIRST? Thanks
|
Re: pic: Voronoi Diagram of Michigan Districts LP
That list is really never finalized, pretty sure you can join anytime. In practice, it doesn't make much sense to join much after kickoff. Teams that join just prior to kickoff, get a temporary number, and when a number is finalized they will show up on the FIRST website.
Last year rookie teams were showing up new the third week of build season. That is why the hold spots in registration process. |
Re: pic: Voronoi Diagram of Michigan Districts LP
FIRST's website doesn't yet show it, but FIM will have a 19th district event in Bloomfield Hills week 2 (or misspelled as Bloomfiled Hills).

Yes, it looks to be gone...
I am sure it will come back if the rookie numbers push us into it, but as of right now there enough spots for everyone to play there 2 districts. (nice for them to tip their hand though) |
