Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
This is pretty cool!
We did something similar our 1st year of existence back in 2000 to raise funds to attend the California regional in San Jose. |

Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
The raffle has nearly 600 tickets sold, looks like selling the minimum of 800 before December 12 is certain!
By your tickets now!! We are only selling 2500 tickets - hard to day but I doubt we'll get all the way to 2500 making your chances of winning much better! |
Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
Oops! We had a little trouble with PayPal guidelines and the web site was down for a day. All is now working! Get your ticket!
We will sell enough to buy the car but we will NOT reach 2500! So the chances of winning are multiplied! Get your ticket today! http://www.rockwallrobotics.com/club-raffle.html |
Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
I've had several PM inquiries into the process of setting up the raffle so I thought I'd post...
... we got lucky with the legal stuff. Texas has a statute called the Charity Raffles Act of 1999 and my son is a both an EE (and former FIRST team member) and a lawyer. So we didn't have to pay for legal advice. There were many requirements: 1 - You had to have 3 years of records as a charitable organization. 2 - You had to be 501(c)(3). 3 - No more than 2 raffles per year. 4 - No paid advertising and no state-wide advertising. But the use of social media was explicitly allowed. 5 - $50,000 prize limit 6 - You have to own or possess the prize. This necessitated a legal relationship with the sponsoring car dealer. 7 - The tickets had to have specific information on them. 8 - The drawing is a hard date, must be advertised, and can only be extended once for no more that thirty days and only because you are unable to award the prize on that day. 9 - We chose to engage a CPA firm to track the tickets and draw the prize. This allowed all team members and their families to participate. Then we had to make sure we were not running afoul of any school system regulations since we are a school-based team. These are the points that I remember, no doubt there are more. If I can help anyone, please let me know. HTH |
Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
Hey - we are getting in the 1,000 tickets sold territory but some of those are being distributed and collected through corporate infrastructures (so not really sure). There is no way we'll reach 1,500 tickets sold, 1,250 is s more realistic target.
So your chances of winning are 2X the original number (with 2500 tickets sold). $25 for a 1 in 1,250 chance of winning a new Mustang! Get your tickets today! http://www.rockwallrobotics.com/club-raffle.html |
Re: FRC Team 1296 Car Raffle!
The drawing is tomorrow at 5PM CDT. But we'll shutdown the web site in a few hours. The final total is gonna be just over 1200 tickets sold. Get it on the last wave!
I'll post the winner here and on our web site just after the drawing! |
