JUMPSTART Training Sessions
Hello MN FRC Community!
There is a pre-season training event available for all FRC teams at St Cloud State University. The sessions are planned with the idea of jumpstarting the area teams before Christmas Break. JUMPSTART will take place on Saturday, December 5th from 8:30-3PM. See JUMPSTART Here. There will be four rounds of sessions starting at 9AM (with Kick-off starting at 8:30AM). During the lunch break there will be campus tours, company showcase, Swap Meet, Robot showcase, and a Pit showcase. The day will end with a wrap up session and the teams will be out by 3PM. Bison Robotics will also be helping out by providing a lot of the talent for the sessions. They will be showcasing what they are doing with Ri3d (Greenhorns) this year as well. We are lucky to have SCSU and the Central Minnesota Manufacturers Association help out with this endeavor - they are picking up the registration fee for the students and mentors and this includes the lunch fee at Garvey Commons! Teams: Have only the team coach/lead mentor fill out the registration form. Registration will close November 20 (or when we reach capacity). Let me know if you have any questions - and please keep tuned as we are going to announcing more aspects to this event in the coming weeks! |
Re: JUMPSTART Training Sessions
Bison Robotics is looking forward to the oppurtunity to help at Jumpstart! The event is going to be awesome and I hope to see representation from teams all across MN (and ND).

We would love it if your team takes the lead on recording these sessions. HOWEVER - please gain approval from each of the presenters before the session. Remember, a lot of work went into creating these presentations and should be looked at as intellectual property. When you do ask for permission, please also ask if it is permissible to share this information. Thank you for your interest in this and we look forward to seeing you at JUMPSTART! Registration is FINAL and we now are up to 20 teams with 6 Rookies!: 1816 - Green Machine from Edina 3023 - Stark Industries from Elk River 3026 - Orange Crush from Delano 3102 - T.N.T. from Nevis 3134 - Accelerators from Cass Lake-Bena 3275 - Regulators from Cass Lake-Bena 3840 - Teens 'Nto Technology from Isanti 4238 - Inferno from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 4607 - C.I.S. from Becker 4632 - Magic from Monticello 4818 - The Herd from West Fargo (ND) 5548 - Roboherd from Buffalo 5638 - Eagle Eye Robotics from Lac qui Parle Valley 5690 - Sub Zero Robotics from Esko 5929 - Raider Robots from Lake Park Audubon 5913 - Patriot Robotics from Pequot Lakes (Rookie Team) 5999 - Wolves from Milaca (Rookie Team) 6045 - SabreBots from Sartell (Rookie Team) 6175 - Eagle Mania from Eden Valley-Watkins (Rookie Team) 6182 - Royals from Rogers (Rookie Team) |
Re: JUMPSTART Training Sessions
For those of you attending JUMPSTART and are here looking for maps (and those that are just curious...) please look here:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/ed...E.kPjBl-3PdHbM On a side note, we intended JUMPSTART for teams in the Central MN area - around St Cloud. We expected to have 5-10 team attending with around 150 students. Well, we are now at 20 teams from across MN (including ND - go FRC 4818!) and have over 360 students registered! Needless to say, we were a bit overwhelmed at the overall interest in this endeavor. We are incredibly excited for this event! And for those of you wondering - this endeavor is a HUGE nod to GoFIRST and their Splash training that we attended for the previous three seasons. We wanted to do for Central MN what Splash does for the Metro area teams in MN. A special thank you to MN FIRST, CMMA, Bison Robotics, and the CMNRH as well as to all the presenters and workers. And to our partner in SCSU - thank you so much for your help! None of this would have been possible without the foresight of Dr. Helgeson and his staff! |

CMNRH = Centre Minnesota Robotics Hub SCSU = St. Cloud State University Sometimes in FIRST we get carried away with abbreviations. With 360 kids and 20 different FRC teams Bison Robotics and our volunteers/presenters are incredibly excited. This event is going to be amazing, we have the oldest active MN FRC team in 1816 The Green Machine, as well as 6 of the newest teams. As presenters we'll do our best to cater to both crowds. From all of the presentations that I've reviewed, I can say that I think all parties will take away valuable information. Personally I can't wait for the food. SCSU has some of the best college food I've had (and I've had my fair share). |
Re: JUMPSTART Training Sessions
Just over a day until JUMPSTART!
Here are the Training Sessions... SESSIONS MAP And then the map of SCSU and all the teams attending... JUMPSTART Map |
Re: JUMPSTART Training Sessions
Anyone have a list of items wanted/ needed for the parts exchange. Assuming that is still going on.

I believe that since most of the teams are young (6 rookie teams, 2 second year teams, and 5 teams that are 3-4 years old) there just isn't enough 'available' items in most teams' stockpile. We hope to have this option up and running next year as most of these teams are more established and understand what they need and what they can depart with. |
Re: JUMPSTART Training Sessions
Today was absolutely amazing and seemed very helpful to everyone that was there.
Thanks to SCSU and CMMA for the use of your facilities and lunch. I would also like to recognise all of the presenters at Jumpstart. Great job! We couldn't have done it without you. A special thanks goes to Chief Hedgehog for your endless push to get this going and to the entire 4607 team for their participation and work to get it done. Awesome job. |
