Major Leage Baseball contraction and FIRST
Posted by Patrick Dingle at 05/11/2001 10:55 PM EST
College Student on team #639, Red B^2, from Ithaca High School and Cornell University. As many of you probably have not heard, major league baseball is considering removing one or two teams. Two of the teams being considered are the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Both of these clubs have relatively cheap ballparks, and they will be even cheaper without a major league team to go with it. FIRST should take this grand opportunity to buy out one of these ballparks, and make a permanant, year-round FIRST stadium. Of course, they may change the way the robotics schedule operates around the year, so that the park can be used year-round. At the suggestion of his brother, President Bush is considering taking the $120 million he made off the Texas rangers to invest helping FIRST buy out one of these parks. I have also heard rumors about a baseball-type FIRST game in one of the upcoming years... live TV coverage to... Patrick |

Its not getting sold any time soon. |
