Alliance Captain 'Bibs'

Just a random question I thought of:

Were we supposed to return the alliance captain bibs (see my pic ) or could we keep them? I kept mine, i was wearing it all the way home lol.....just something i was thinking about because I remembered I didn't see them at nationals, all they used was like a piece of tape I think...lol

David Kelly 03-07-2002 20:15

you were supposed to return them ricky...

Ricky Q. 03-07-2002 20:22

hmmm, did i say i kept mine? lol *slowly starts to walk away, then runs* oh well, ill bring it to iri, never know when you'll need it...now FIRST is on to me

David Kelly 03-07-2002 20:26

don't worry about it... FIRST has seen the pics of my bedroom. Some of them were not happy...:(

Clark Gilbert 03-07-2002 20:29

I'm sure lots of people keep them, but i could be wrong...

I know we had a kid 2 years ago keep his...

Ian W. 03-07-2002 20:52

it's people like you who make each competition cost $4000 :p

thats what FIRST told me

D.J. Fluck 04-07-2002 01:01

whats wrong with taking some signs....dont they get tossed in the trash anyway? Heck they should be glad that you took them to save trash space and cleanup time

Katie Reynolds 04-07-2002 02:38

Haha, DJ - You're one to talk about stealing signs! ;) As long as you can justify your reasoning, I guess ... then it's all good, right?

- Katie

Actually, all of the big signs, even those that are event-specific, are saved to use more than one year, as long as the elements don't beat them up too much...

Ian W. 04-07-2002 19:27

hmm, that means they need a new sign for NYC next year...

(and no, I didn't take it ;))

Chubtoad 05-07-2002 11:13

Ontop of my friends monitor is a sign that says
"We are not responsible for lost or stolen articles"
it was from the Info booth at Nationals 2001.
Me and my friends distracted the nice, very informational ladies there.
Then when we got home there was several weeks of stealing it from one another.

How did you manage that?!

Ian W. 06-07-2002 10:11

i think we have a sign from the NYC regional, does that come close? :p

Nate Smith 06-07-2002 12:33

At some sites, they will leave the carpet(if it's not being used at another event) with an area team. So that doesn't really count...

Thank you for putting up a good fight with us. We know how trully strong you are. After my spurradic-out-of-the-nowhere crying ended, I put things into perspective. Thanks again for putting up a hard and enduring fight with us. Hope to keep a conection with you guys in future years.

The alliance thing.... we didn't have the wearable Alliance Captain things at MidAtlantics this year. We had white jazzy hats this year.

Travis Hoffman 08-07-2002 10:04

It wasn't really stealing....

It wasn't what you would call stealing, but I think it was at the Canadian Regional where the carpet was so torn up that the FIRST officials invited all the teams to rip it up and take home pieces of it as souvenirs.

Travis

Jeff Waegelin 14-07-2002 17:16

One of our former team members has the "Newton" sign from the 2001 Nationals. It was really funny though, because his last name is Newton.

Ian W. 14-07-2002 22:27

purplehaze357 15-07-2002 01:54

Ashley Weed 15-07-2002 11:27

Just curious as to how you were ever able to snatch those signs up! That takes guts and skill!

purplehaze357 15-07-2002 12:57

its ez as pie...u jsut pick it up and walk away

DanLevin247 16-07-2002 13:21

Anyone ever "borrowed" a street sign?

Katie Reynolds 16-07-2002 13:33

Some former members of our team "borrowed" a piece of a railroad track (the track had been abandoned, luckily)

- Katie

mtaman02 17-07-2002 02:16

those are all small stuff. we have a big sign from the 2002 FL. NATL's pit area. luckily no one spotted a blue truck with 2 of our students in the back "borrowing the sign" If i'm not mistaken i have a picture of it somewhere and provide a working link to it.

mike

Nice signs David. You have us all beat in quantity how about size. hehe

Scott Ritchie 17-07-2002 14:43

I hate to say it but somewhere he has one that would wrap around his room 2 or 3 times from the Kennedy regional
