What is everyone's favorite movie??
Just wondering what everyone's favorite movie is?? I have not been to the movie theatre in a while. Well actually I went to see Scooby Doo. That was ok, it was not the best, but it was cool. Does anyone recommend seeing a movie, or not recommend seeing a movie?? Just wondering.
Katelyn |
For new movies, I saw Scooby Doo and Men In Black 2 over the holiday break they were both pretty cool in thier own rights.
For favorite of all time, The Back to the Future series is my all time favorite! |
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Funny thing is ... two of the development managers at work are named Bob. So I often have 'a meeting with the Bobs'. |
DJ Fluck,
Don't let them take away your stapler. I've seen so many movies its hard to pick my favorite but I saw True Lies on TV the other night so I pick that one. If anyone watches Disney, those movies are alright but they seem to be on when nothing else is and they trap you in and you see the same ones many times. |
Top Gun is definately a classic movie. Everytime I go up north I watch it. We have a trailer up north, and a whole bunch of land that we are growing trees on. When i go up there, I feel like a farm girl...LOL. Back to the future is definately a classic too.
Katelyn |
As for my favorite movie...
I would say that it's either Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Star Wars, Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back, or perhaps Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. |
I have lots and lots of favorite movies. But if i had to pick 1 or 2 it would be either....
Top Gun or Backdraft |
Dazed and Confused
Bill and Ted's Excelent Adventure was also good. Evolution was amusing, and I liked Top Gun.. Fight Club was inspriational. Monty Python Holy Grail is a classic. Wetzel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EXECELLENT! |
Movies
Cecil B. Demented, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Red Neck Zombies, Cannibal: The Musical. Fight Club
oh jeez i probably missed a lot there... oh well, no one's ever heard of a lot of them anyway :D |
hrm how can you say Bill and Ted was better?
*mumbles* im gonna set the building on fire |
Most of you will probably never believe this, but I have never seen office space. I really need to see it. Everyone I talk to loves it.
Katelyn |
Top Gun is good......
|
I am gonna have to say Blade. BladeII was also good, but not as good as the original. As for Office Space, it is strangely familiar.. it is a constant reminder of an internship I had in the summer of '01.
|
Blade 2...hmmm...well i just have to say that when my team went to MMR, on thursday night, the 12 of us, i think it was 12, the lucky one's who got to go a day early, we went to go see blade 2. Now I have never seen blade so first of all it made no sense. Second of all it had no point. Some of the scenes were cool with special effects and stuff like that, but oh my...not the best movie. There was only one person out of our whole group who actually liked it. Oh yeah, I was sitting next to Ricky, or some of you know him as Falco269, and he fell asleep...so...sorry Ricky, had to say it...LOL
Katelyn |
I would say all the above (all the movies listed so far) are really good. My personal favorite is Spiderman.:D
|
Hmmm...I was debating whether to see spiderman. I think I just might now...
Katelyn |
spiderman was good... helps to like the superhero kinda thing though
as for blade 2... i thought it was very well made, but did anyone notice that it was very, how shall i put it? freaky, in comparison with the first. some of the best movies in the world: zoolander office space oceans eleven (not very funny as such but very good plot and well made) face off rat race (didnt like the plot but that man was it funny) mall rats and of course the matrix |
wow, no one said the matrix until chris...
WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE MATRIX!!! :p one of the best movies ever. can't wait for the next one |
Moulin Rouge
Rocky Horror Picture Show Fight Club 10 Things I Hate About You Exorcist |
Oh i totally forgot about 10 things I hate about you, awesome movie. It has been on tv a lot lately.
Katelyn P.S. Happy Birthday Yearbook50 |
Movies..Haha
I am a fan of the stupidest movies, I just love to laugh
Major League 1/2 Austin Powers 1/2 and I'm sure 3 Airplane 1/2 10 Things I Hate About You is good Sgt. Bilko Happy Gilmore Tommy Boy Black Sheep Those are just a few... :D |
yeah, i definitely have to agree with Ian that Matrix was mentioned way to late in this list. Matrix is the best.
As for comedies, i have to say my favorites are: Monty Python and the Holy Grail Airplane 1/2 Tommy Boy Black Sheep |
Some of my faves:
Matrix(just awesome!) Gone in 60 Seconds(the recent one) Fast and the Furious( yes I love cars and therefore love car movies) umm... Spiderman was great Enemy at the gates was kinda cool hmm.. that's all I can think of of hand. *hugz to all as alwayz* Ann-marie -team 783 |
Here's my laundry list. . . this is Miss-America style; as in, in no particular order.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - for it's fun, multi-tiered story and fantastic music and score. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - for much the same. The Neverending Story - For making a laudable effort at approximating the novel, and for just rocking all over. Moulin Rouge - for having Nicole Kidman, reinterpreted songs, and awesome cinematography and set design 10 Things I Hate About You - for being the absolute best 'teen' movie ever. Pay It Forward - for being a fantastic idea, and a wrenching movie. 12 Monkeys - for making you think. Brad Pitt is cool, too. Jurassic Park - for the simple 'wow' factor. It's still amazing, nearly 10 years later. Wow, I'm old. |
ooh man i almost forgot one of the best made movies...
black hawk down very moving, very real, awesome special effects, good plot, and just a very good over all movie and wait i forgot about spaceballs too... what a great movie :D |
Ahhhh...This is easy. My number one rated flick:
'Lawrence of Arabia' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0056172) It must be seen on a really big screen to be appreciated. The scene, some thirty minutes into the movie, where Sherif Ali Ibn El Kharish (Omar Sharif) rides out of the sweltering desert to arrive at his well is pretty stunning. Okay, my favorite flicks released semi-recently include 'Almost Famous' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0181875), 'American Beauty' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0169547), and, of course, who doesn't dig 'The Matrix' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0133093). Kevin |
Hmm...the Matrix is good. Minority Report was good too. lol, to many good movies.
Jillian PS- Happy B-day Yearbook 50!!!:D |
wow, lots of good movies listed, but y'all forgot the one with the best car pile-up scenes, and my favorite, The Blues Brothers Movie (the original)
|
The Iron Giant and Mulan are the best animated movies ever made.
Starship Troopers has one of the greatest action sequences ever filmed. It would be better though if they took out all the dialogue and any scene where someone's not getting maimed. And I still belive that ST got absoluteley ROBBED of the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 1997 or whatever. |
probably no one has ever heard of either of these...but, my favorite movies in the whole wide world are "Tootsie" and "A Chorus Line" :D
molly |
Soo many to choose from, Fight Club, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Office Space, Amercian Pie ( 1 & 2 ), Fast and The Furious, Spaceballs, Not Another Teen Movie, The Royal Tennanbaulms. . . The list goes on.
Can't forget showgirls. ( Just Kidding ) |
im not that great when it comes to rating movies, mostly because i prefer to read the book before the movie, and that usually ruins it. however some of favorite movies include:
the alien trilogy (the others shouldnt count) Indiana jones (so much better than james bond) the shining IT (yes, "IT") the matrix jurassic park (only the first) jaws the mummy rumble in the bronx (best of jackie chan) ET black hawk down (the most gory movie ever) but my favorite movie of all was Armaggedon and if you you want my recomendation of future movies, i think that "Red Dragon" will be very good because the book was great. Watch out for a surprise ending! |
Labyrinth, The Usual Suspects, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, War of the Buttons, Billy Elliot, The Cat From Outerspace (okay, it's pretty bad, but the cat's cute!), Nightbreed, Schindler's List, Trainspotters, Top Secret...
Except for Nightbreed, this doesn't even touch the cheesy horror movies I have a fondness for. MissInformation <===========> Él jugó solamente con las sombras en la pared. No que esto significa nada en todo. |
It's a Wonderful Life
Gotta watch it every year.:)
|
All time favorite series.....
Mighty Ducks 1,2,and 3!!!!! |
Oh...I totally forgot about Mighty Ducks...I love those.
Katelyn |
Does anyone else here think Child's Play 2 is the creepiest movie ever?
|
> Does anyone else here think Child's Play 2 is the creepiest movie ever?
Ever seen 'The Shining' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0081505) or 'The Exorcist' (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0070047) <evil grin>? Kevin |

I would also like to add Gladiator, Snatch, Pi, Memento, Run Lola Run, Minority Report, Blade Runner, and probably some more. In addition, The International Movie Database is a great website. That is all. |

Bullitt - one of the best car chases ever.
Ronin - More kewl chase scenes. Kinpin - what Happy Gilmore is to golf, Kingpin is to bowling. Back to the future series - i want a dolorean. the last 20 mins of Fast and the furious - imports suck, chargers dont. Gone in 60 seconds (old skool) - the new one sux compared to the old one (over 100 cars destroyed in the original) American Graffiti - 32 duece coup. all the matix's (or should i say matrices?) |

If you wanna see a nice car pile-up... there's always The Blues Brothers (the original) |
My all time favorite movie is Moulin Rouge! Such a GREAT love story. I also like Titanic (who woulda thought the boat would sink?! *such a shocker* ;) ), Gone in 60 Seconds, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Scream 1, Thirteen Ghosts, Star Wars (1&2), 10 Things I Hate About You, Shrek, The Others, The Waterboy, Hollow man, and The Matrix (everytime I see it I understand it more and more...hehe). I really really really like scary movies, but I don't get to see them too much b/c nobody else in my family really likes em that much. Let me know about other good horror movies I can see! :)
~Jessica~ MiM ROCKS! AIM: jessvbmh |
The best movie all time is Terror Squad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No not really, its a horrible low budget movie starring Chuck Conners filmed in Kokomo Indiana (never heard of the place) in 1987 (?) |
Army of Darkness was pretty darn good :D
Let's see... Akira was pretty good... Crouching tiger hidden dragon was excellent. And a bunch of the others already mentioned like Matrix, JP, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ect.... |
comedy movies:
monty python and the holy grail airplane the naked gun blazing saddles dogma chasing amy mall rats jay and silent bob strike back waynes world blues brothers sgt. bilko machale's navy down periscope police acadamey bill and ted car movies: gone in 60 seconds (both) the fast and the furious (good idea, bad cars) bullitt (gotta love steve mcqueen) days of thunder stroker ace blues brothers the italian job (mini coopers) death race 2000 2 lane black top mad max herby the love bug canon ball run gumball rally smokey and the bandit black dog american graffeti |
The most frightening thing about all of this is that I'd guess more than half of these movies were released after, say, 1995.
We've been making movies for 80+ years, people! With that in mind, I'd like to append The Wizard of Oz, The Birds, and Earthquake to my list. This ought to do some to keep the universe in balance. |
lol, but michael, you forget one thing. most of us are still in high school, which makes it about '95 that we first started getting into movies. sure, we might happen across an old movie (say the birds), but it's much more likely that we won't. star wars (IV, V, & VI) are the only ones i can think that every has seen, but that's about all.
also, anyone ever see Plan 9 From Outer Space? i haven't, but i've heard it's the worst movie, ever. |
Toy Story...
|
my picks
is go and see the borne identity. minority report also kicked butt.
but my all time favs are: gone in 60 seconds(1&2) days of thunder spaceballs 3 kings saving private ryan soo many more, i cant think of them all Badjokeguy |
Quote:
I agree. anybody wanna find religion...go see the exorcist. the really scary part of that movie is a true story that occured in the next town from where i grew up.~~~~~ My favs are Ghost, Top Gun, Sound of Music, Dirty Dancing, Blues Brothers, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones....probably more, but i'm too tired to think of them. |
The Cube is another good one.... (no it isn't the movie with J. Lo...) this is different
|
Ghostbusters is the best movie ever
|

|

Katelyn |
Oh i totally forgot about dirty dancing...that is an awesome movie. Hey just wondering for you people who saw the new MIB...How was it??? I am considering seeing it...with one of my friends...but i want to know if it is good or not. Just wondering.
Katelyn |
The worst movie ever made is "Tammy and the T-Rex". It's probably one of the most unintentionally hilarious movies too. It's funny in it's horibbleness.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 & 2 were great movies. The Lord of the Rings movie sucked. WAY overhyped. |

I thought MIB 2 was good. I went to see it last Friday, and was planning on having to sit for hours watching a movie like the last one I went to see. (Lord of the Rings) I enjoyed it more than other movies because it wasn't so long.

Eh, it's still a relevant topic. Might as well talk since the thread's been rez'd.
I have to admit that Pirates Of The Caribbean is my favorite movie of all time. This might not be based on the quality of the movie, and more on the fact that I just really, really love pirates. Arsenic and Old Lace and Howls Moving Castle are some more old favorites. (: |
