Talons??

This probably has been posted before....

Where can one purchase talon motor controllers. I see Andymark has the new version and we are interested in the older talons. Is there another source out there that still carries them? Thanks for all your time and help

Is there a specific reason that you want the SRs? I am sure that we have a few that did not get used - how many do you need?

Is there any particular reason you need the old ones? The new Victors are the "official" successor to the old Talons and work over PWM in the same way. The new Talons also work over PWM but have CAN functionality too.

Since Talons are discontinued I don't believe there is a source for purchase any more. My suggestion is to buy the Victor SP which is very similar to the old talon.

Another option is the Spark by Rev, which is cheaper and looks to have the same mounting and wiring interfaces. Though I can't find a drawing or working stp of the Spark to confirm this..

We may also have some Talon SRs lying around.

The SPARK is close in slze to the old Talon, with a bit of difference (mainly clearance holes for #10 hardware and all the holes on a 3/8in pitch in both directions.

It is functionally equivalent to the old talon, with the added benefit of limit switch inputs. More info here www.revrobotics.com/SPARK

You can download the Step file here

And they can be purchased via Amazon here http://www.amazon.com/REV-Robotics-S...dp/B0187YCAFI/

Thanks for the messages. We are in preseason training here and have three drive bases we want to have running or team practice and training. I just thought since the new Talons were out maybe there we some deals out there on past, older versions, that we could buy for relatively cheap. We need about 6-8 of them.

Thanks for all the advice

The old talons were discontinued over a year ago. I seem to recall there may have briefly been a few discounts available on them, but the stock sold out a LONG time ago. ;)

Echoing what others have pointed out though, Spark controllers may be the direction you want to go if you're looking for a cheap way to emulate the old Talons.

I'd try contacting teams in your area, if you're really set on using Talon SR's. I'd offer some from 2667, but I'm pretty sure ours are all tied up in our 2015 practice drive chassis and t-shirt cannon.

Failing that, I'll third the recommendation for Sparks-- they're probably cheaper than any deal you'll get on another FRC speed controller, and they're definitely in stock.

We have 1 or 2 we would happily sell to you. Pm me.

We have like 12 Talon SRXs that we have been wanting to get rid of (sell). They even come with the original cellophane tape around the box!;)

PM me if you want more details.
