What kind of pets do you have??

Hey, I was just wondering what kind of pets everyone has. Right now I have 2 Rotweillers (dogs)...and I promise you they are the sweetest things ever, they are nothing like the news portrays them to be. I have one female named Bailey, and one male named Reggie. They are both major lap dogs. They are pretty big too.

Sadly, I have none.:( My Other is allergic to cats and dogs . But I'm working on him. I keep telling him I would be a much nicer person if we had a cat or two, and allergy shots aren't too bad... It has to work, I can't picture living the rest of my life without a cat (believe it or not, the first word I ever said was "meow").

I sometimes suspect I should have chosen the cat... but then again, I sometimes suspect he wishes I had...

She isn't exactly a pet. My collie is a show dog, so she doesn't have the usual characteristics that pets do. For example: for excercise she enjoys utility, not chasing cars! :)

I have a 75 gallon community tank. The whole lower area of the tank is water and has a White Clouds in it. It also has a pair of Fiddler Crabs in there for clean up and a Firebelly newt who crawls around. Sometimes in the water and sometimes he tries to climb up into the plants like an Anole. There are also five firebelly toads that patrol the shorelines of my terrium. I have an artificial waterfall and use artificial plant because I have had such bad luck with real plants and the lizards don't really care if the plants are real or not. Stalking the upper area of my terrium are a pair of Green Anoles and a pair of Brown Anoles. I also have a Gold Dust Day Gecko who keeps a low profile as much as possible and hides in the back. Lastly I have a pair of Green Tree Frogs.
I've been keeping this type of set up in over five years in three different type of aquariums. I bought the 75 gallon after we got back from the Nationals. My previous Lizard Lounge got a massive crack in it when I was cleaning it. It didn't last long on the curb though.
I also have a ten gallon terrarium at work with a Dendrobates Levcomelas(black and gold Dart Frog who I call Crash).

I have two greyhounds - a male named Bandit and a female named Gypsy. Bandit is 5 and Gypsy is 4... we rescued them from a dog track down near the Wisconsin Dells when it was closing down. They are two of the weetest dogs ever. They're really gentle and good dogs from being treated like %%%% when they were racing dogs... If you are looking for a big dog that lies around the house all day - adopt a greyhound! Only $125 for the adoption - not too bad or a purebred dog! ;)

Other than the family dog and a bunch of cats, I keep and breed colubrid snakes. I used to have lots of them but I am down to my last 11 breeders. My AP Bio classes raise mice as a part of our genetics projects and they supply the food for the summer breeding season. Nothing goes to waste.

However, since robots take a lot of my time these days, I have changed hobbies in the last few years to one not requiring lots of care. Mineralogy has always been an interest and I spend what spare time is available digging specimens - take a look http://www.geocities.com/njtraprock/

David Kelly 13-07-2002 20:59

no way!!!

molly, how could you do that to a poor and helpless animal?:( i hope noone here is from the humaine society or from animal rights. they would not be very happy with you.

David Kelly 13-07-2002 21:01

i have a cat named Koko. short for Kokomo, IN. seriously

Molly Menges 13-07-2002 21:56

ok..i never microwaved my hamster...i might have tried to once...but i never actually did it! this thing lived from the summer before 1st grade all the way until the middle of my 8th grade year! he had to be the longest living hamster ever. in 7th grade i was ready for him to die..so i tried to get rid of him. and as unbelieveable as this sounds, it's true...i let him outside one time thinking he'd get lost...but no..he was on my porch three days later. i do feel kind if bad...but cleaning out a cage and feeding this little animal that doesn't do anything for 8 1/2 years got REALLY old. he was great for the first 3 years...but come on...8 1/2 years!!!! that's just plain wrong.....

DanLevin247 13-07-2002 23:20

I have a collie ( like lassie ) named casey.

Carolyn Duncan 14-07-2002 17:58

I have an Australian Shepard. He's about 45 lbs or so and he doesn't really know he's not a person. I got him accidentally, the breaders who had him abused him and were going to have him put to sleep and I ended up getting a really expensive show dog for free. They didn't like him because as far as show quality his brown eye has a blue fleck in it which is not good for his breed. Oh, well I have him now and he's spoiled to death. He even gets to go for rides on my jet ski. He will throw a tantrum if you go on the jet ski with out him. My roommate has a cat who I must say is pretty cool considering the whole cat thing. I think we need to get an exorsist for her she talks to the ceiling and walls, and no there aren't bugs or light reflections when she does this, after she finnishes she runs aroung the apartment and shakes her head a lot as she bathes herself. Rather frighteningly scary. I also have a fish tank but it isn't in my apt. stupid land lord says no tanks more than 20 gallons above the 1st floor. It's not like my 35 gallon tank is gonna do anything. It's only home to a beta, a bala shark, 2 australian rainbow fish and a sucker named squishy the fishy! Geez silly people.
