Designing a Team Standard "Flag"

Hello CD community!

If any FRC Team needs help with designing a Team Standard "Flag" I wrote a post about it here: http://www.frcnation.com/blog/2015/1...a6pinxdnsj6s9o

I think it's a cool idea that FIRST is helping teams brand themselves better. What do you think?

Thank you for the article (especially the template!)

I think it's an interesting change and it really helps create the mood for a medieval type scene, which Stronghold is based on.

Of course! I hope it helps!

I agree! It's a cool feature that teams can capitalize on.

Or to be more period, they could feudalize on this feature. ;)

I think everyone keeps forgetting about the history patches.

Quote:

History Patches
One 4” wide x 3” tall (102 mm x 76 mm) patch will be provided at each event to display on your Standard. Be sure to keep space available and be prepared to adhere these Patches to your Standard throughout the season. Patches will be self-adhering, with a peel-and-stick adhesive backing.

Sigh, guess I gotta figure out how to fit all those patches on our banner now...

FIRST should release the image now so teams can try and keep a decent aesthetic. Seems stupid for teams to spend all that energy making something look really nice to have it mucked up and uglied by something FIRST wants you to add.

Your standard will be patches patched together!
What's the problem? ::ouch::

Excellent point :D . I saw this post and I was like: no no no please no. Back to the drawing board - have to clear at least 36 square inches from my design.  ::rtm::

Are teams leaving room for just this year's worth of patches or multiple years? I guess this question boils down to "do teams think standards will be something recurring year after year or are they for just this year?"

If we don't forget the history patches, how can we repeat them?:D

I'm assuming just this year.

Agreed. Even if this is something that will be continued in future years, the history patch makes this something that teams would want to renew/replace each year.

We decided to not keep a space open on the front of our standard. But I think putting in on the back side of it so we can keep it and know what season it was from would be a good compromise. It lets you have a clean looking standard while still having the fun of the history patches.
