at what post number anyway.

for me it was at post # 148 see you can still tell how many posts a person has by going to the search for all posts by this user and it will come up 1-25 of __ posts or something like that

Trashed20 08-08-2002 19:47

/me is at 155ish and can't change it yet, go fig.

Jon K. 08-08-2002 19:49

maybe they have too be of a certain length or something who knows

Melancholy 08-08-2002 20:02

hey
i'm cool
becuase i just figured out how to know how many posts you have
go to your private messages section
and open a sent private message
and your post count will be there

Brandon Martus 08-08-2002 21:36

these numbers are closely related to the number, but not the exact number used when determining when a user can change their post. There is another behind-the-scenes number that controls it. The count, control, and behavior of this number is not documented. :)

I will document this....

you must have written some special code to have the number vary, because i looked all through the vbulletin web site and the admin demo, and never found anything beside a standard number.

ps: the admin demo was pretty interesting to see all the "power" you have:)

Any hints on the way that number is computed?

Brandon Martus 08-09-2002 21:54

150+X

X is a random number [1-20], which is added 0 or more times to 150.

I subtract some random number every time i have to do some sort of moderation on a user's post, or if I see deliberate rule breaking, etc.

This probably wont happen as much once vBulletin 3.0 comes out, it has its own little Karma system, so alot of the cool features can be accessable to those that have a good karma rating. [which is determined by how others like your posts on the forums, and other factors, i believe]

mtaman02 09-09-2002 00:43

Brandon,

How Do You Do It?

when do you think v Bulletin 3.0 will be incorporated to CD

Once they release it, I'll probably test it out, add the Who-Am-I picture, and mess around with it for a week or so, and hopefully they'll release a few more betas. Then maybe we'll install it here and see how it goes.

I have no idea when they'll release it.

They already have a beta version up to play with, but the code hasn't been released yet. The demo beta is a good indication that they're getting close, however.
