AP Scores

well, ap scores are in, now how did everyone do?

i got two fours, out of two tests taken. bio and world hist. now, if i didn't 'waste' all that time in florida, or school, or various other places working on the robot, i might have gotten a 5. of course, robots are a heck of a lot more fun :D. besides, i'm happy with a 4, because i hated bio, and world history was a brand new test, and no one knew what to expect. so, how did everyone else do?

Melissa Nute 19-07-2002 21:36

I got a 5 of psychology! yeah! and I didn't even study for it...

But I got 2 on Euro Historry and I studied for it...odd...oh well... I don't really care....

gniticxe 19-07-2002 22:54

French Language - 4 (woohoo! 12 credits, and no French ever again!)
Calc - 5
Physics (mech) - 4
Physics (e&m) - 2 (d'oh, didnt study/get taught/pay for it anyway :) )

A. Leese 19-07-2002 23:13

I just took one AP..Environmental Science..got a 4..happy but was really hoping for a 5..oh well..just glad i'm done with that stupid class..next year taking ap english lit, chem, and calc

GotGuts610 20-07-2002 10:30

Physics B - 5
World History - 5

So as you can see, I am very happy with the AP system :D .

Kyle Fenton 20-07-2002 12:58

I just got it in

I got a 2 on my AP US History Test

Jeff Rodriguez 20-07-2002 19:06

I took the Comp. Sci. I hated it and now now thats i don't wanna program. I got a 1.

srawls 20-07-2002 23:24

I got a 5 on comp. sci. ab. Didn't take the class either.

Stephen

PS. Sorry to hear programming's not for you. I just hope the ap system wasn't the factor, cause in my view ap computer science is a bunch of bs. I'll try to keep this short, but basically ap dumbs things down, doesn't teach advanced features or idioms, and doesn't do a good job explaining why you do things. Of course, if you have a really good teacher I suppose he could salvage the class, but that's a rarety in a public school system.

PPS. Hope I don't sound too cynical, I just have some opinions against ap comp. sci :) Oh, and I believe there's a teacher around here that teaches it. No offense to you, I just don't like the ap treatment for computer science.

PPPS. My sytem of 'PS'es is entirely too long ... sorry 'bout that :)

as always, just my 2 cents

Jeff Waegelin 21-07-2002 16:32

I got a 5 on Calc BC.

Kyle Hill 21-07-2002 16:37

Chem 4, US Government 4, Macroeconomics 4, Comp Sci A 5, English Lit 4, Statistics 4.

mtaman02 21-07-2002 17:00

AP?? Whats AP. Never heard of it. What is it?

Eugene 21-07-2002 17:23

I got a 5 in chem. It seems like they have really lowered their standards, so it is not such a big accomplishment.

rbayer 21-07-2002 19:00

CompSci AB - 5
EngLanguage/Comp - 5
Euro History - 5
Calc BC - 5

VanWEric 21-07-2002 20:24

Well, i got meself a 5 in Physics... Which is odd because I got a 90 on the regents (state wide exam for New Yorkers). Now you tell me, is it possible that someone who aced the advanced physics should get a 90 on the test they give to inner city folk with poor education and no real desire to pass? Not to dis the inner city folk, its just that we have LOTS more money flowing through our district.

Dude, I got a 4 on it.. trust me, they definitely lowered their standards if I got anything higher than a two.

Speaking of lowering standards... not once while learning, studying, preparing, or taking did I look at the Marine Biology case study. I skipped, out of hand, questions 16-20 on Part I, and for the Part II Case Study free-response I wrote definitions for 500 variables instead actually giving a real answer.

And I still got a 5. Go figure.

Adam Y. 21-07-2002 21:48

meh its a bunch of factors that probably lead to your score of course chemistry really wasn't my subject so i got a 3 on it oo well there is always physics and biology:)

Jon Lawton 21-07-2002 21:49

Muahaha... I'd like to take this oppertunity to shamelessly plug dual-enrollment programs...

AP Tests? BAH! > : )

Amanda Aldridge 21-07-2002 22:36

AP English Language and Composition -- 4 (if only i'd studied.....)
AP US History -- 2 (but i did study!!!!)

yes, your ps system is way too long.

im actually going to take ap C++ this year at my school and we have a teacher that actually knows what he is doing. he has written some books on programming and math and goes around to conferences and speaks. I had him last year for the TrueBASIC programming class (a waste of time :)) but he really is a good teacher. The system isn't completely lost, its just blind!

mmmmmm... declaring variables *drool*

E. The Kidd 22-07-2002 10:53

ap us history-2...i feel kinda bad

twistedboi03 22-07-2002 15:20

ap tests

I think all of u are full of it....hahaha no one can get a 5 on all of the ap tests they take..and if they did they wouldnt be in high school...i think all of you are full of it...hahaha...but if u did get a 5 on all of them u took, more power to u...i took 2 tests and got a two on both of them, US History and Phy. Mech..

its just intersting to see that everyone who posted replys pass them all with a 5

Ian W. 22-07-2002 16:06

what's wrong with getting all 5's? i think anyone who does that is amazing. i also think they should die so i have a better chance at getting into a good college, but oh well ;).

anyways, for all the people that do get all 5's, great for you.

to twistedboi03:
APs are not that hard. if you study and really try, a 5 is very reachable. if you go to florida and party, well, let's say i settle for a 4 :D.

D.J. Fluck 22-07-2002 19:13

I didnt bother to take my only AP Test that I could take...the teacher was awful and she spent most of the lecture time making us color stupid pieces of paper and learn absolutely nothing....AP US History was theworst class I had ever taken.... Yes i did a lot of work to get the equivilant of an A in the normal US History class

/me bashes himself over the head with the giant AP US History Book

nwagers 23-07-2002 00:14

i think that a 5 wouldn't be too hard if you try. I got a 3 in Calc AB but the class ended in well before the test. I wish they offered AP physics at my school

Erin Rapacki 23-07-2002 08:55

I wish I never took them...

I live in a town where they find it a tradition to have the seniors graduate in the last week of June. So, when we take the AP exams in may, we have yet to have a whole month of instruction and we miss out on a few things that they put on those exams. Also, no teachers of mine really prepared us for the test, they just said 'take it if you want to.' So, I got my scores back the other day, and I'd say that all my AP course teachers would be disappointed if most of them didn't retire after last year. I got a 1 in Calculas, which I expected because I slept and doodled during the exam; and a 2 in English, which was disappointing because I worked hard and thought I had a 3. That's why I hate how written exams are graded, they are graded subjectively by people who sit in a room all day and read teenager's horrible handwriting. It is something special if you can get a 5 on an exam, even a 4, so feel good about yourself. Also, my AP exams were pointless, AP Calc and AP Phys I wanted to repeat in college, AP English I may still get out of because I recieved college credit at UCONN already and I can just transfer the credit to my new school. So that's my spoof on AP exams... only take them if you need to.

Our class was so unprepared that the "Brain Child" of the class got the highest score.... 2

That class was the devil. Our teacher talked in a monotone and put everyone to sleep. The most exciting thing that happened was when we drew on all the kids that were really passed out and left them in the room after the bell rang. But, it did give me a chance to take mid afternoon naps! oh yeah. i did get a 3 on the thing, god knows how...i guessed on basically every answer:confused:

MBiddy 24-07-2002 21:11

That's why I'm never going to take AP History. I hate history and government.

the problem wasn't our teacher because he wasn't a bad teacher. he was actually too good. my whole class wrote about 3 or 4 pages on the dbq and ran short on time as we replied to the religion question (2 pages and we still didn't make out point) at that point we rushed to answer the 2nd thematic question and only squeezed a page or 2 from that. so don't put all of the blame on the teachers.

Amanda Aldridge 25-07-2002 17:33

Our teacher for AP US History was okay, but she was so into minutia that I wasn't prepared for the actual test, because her tests were much harder and asked a lot more in-depth questions, and we only got up to World War II....it was so bad. I have to re-take US History this year......grrrr....

Hubicki 25-07-2002 17:50

I liked the programming AB test :) ... it was challenging and fun. Thats amazing that someone got a 5 on it without taking the course (yay, i got a 5 too :) ). Did you like get the coursework outside school or something, because it's impossible to instinctively know the Marine Biology class or learn it while taking the test (as well as the miscellaneous types of searches and sorts and the things that can't be identified and learned through simple logic and time with the language). But did anyone else feel this way? I mean, i thought the free-response was cool, like with the binary code tree where you had to write a function to encode and decode messages :) .
~Hubicki~

srawls 25-07-2002 18:10

That's the only one I liked actually, the huffman encoding binary tree. Everything else was iterative and ugly, I liked the change to recursion. Umm ... as to the class stuff. I glanced at the case study on the ap site. I got the basic design of it, but didn't really look into the code much. I had to do that during the test on one of them, but other than that it wasn't too bad. As for the other types of questions ... if you just hang out on the right newsgroups and read manpages or tutorials, then you eventually learn :)

I feel so stupid... I got 2s on all my tests (English III, US Hist, Comp Sci AB), but I didn't study so I guess that explains it...

ggoldman 29-07-2002 22:34

I got a 5 on the calc AB exam

Guess i am destined to be an engineer

Gabe G.

Chris Nowak 30-07-2002 18:36

I got a 3 on US hist

I pretty much slacked off entirely in the classs and rarely studied, so i was happy.

Mark Hamilton 13-08-2002 02:47

2 in US history, 4 in Comp Sci A, and 4 in Eng Lang/Comp.
Would've had a 5 in comp sci but Id only bothered with the AP classes (which are completely useless imo) for about a week before giving up on them completely. Imagine my suprise when the entire test was dependent on using them.
