Ballet of the Brain

As the 2016 Kickoff approaches, take a look at the "Ballet of the Brain" that is the FIRST Robotics Competition.

Team 1538 is proud to present this "teaser" video:

This is the best FRC video I've seen. Ever. Feels like it was made by Steve Sabol and the folks at NFL films. Simply amazing.

I agree, this video is superbly done. It is on the level same level as a professionally produced video just like RoboLeague (https://vimeo.com/139506546). I hope you guys do more of this!

Awesome job!

Omg this is amazing!

A+

One of the best FRC videos ever..
Is it a direct correlation with Stronghold? Maybe since you're HOF..?

So many stuff could fit the theme from this years game :ahh:

+1

It was extra sweet that some of the clips showed our friends from across town in their well earned moment of triumph.

Thank you all for the comments. We had a lot of fun making this video and got hyped seeing the video match up with the audio so well. Our goal from the beginning was to create a video that hyped our team up for the kickoff and imitated some of the great sports commercials we have all seen.

Let me know if you have any questions in regards to the video. Only a couple of days left!

Amazing, amazing, amazing job!
This video passes the "gives me goosebumps" test.

Kudos to everyone involved in its production. I love seeing stuff like this which captures the excitement of the sport!

The matchup is what gave me the chills.

It's videos like this and Roboleague that help solidify the message of FRC as a sport. Nice work Rene ;)

I am so using this video to "try" to explain to friends, family, & colleagues why I prioritize 5/12 of each year to this silly little "waste of time" we call FIRST.

Who wrote the script? So poetic. Is that a native English narrator?

Thank you.

Great job on this video!! The camera work, the narration, and the music merged perfectly. The best trailer I've seen for FRC, you guys are amazing!

Amazingly well done!! Finally a short and incredibly well produced video that we can send people when they ask "Where have you been for the past 4 months?"

Funny how that NBA Chess audio works so effectively for chess, basketball, and competitive robotics. Or not.

You got it right on. Earlier on in the thread someone asked who wrote the script. The audio is actually from one of my favorite NBA commercials (credited and linked in the YouTube video information). I've been wanting to work on a video that used this audio for some time now but this year it worked perfectly with the theme.

Most of the work was in time spent looking through hours of video and trying to match it up with the audio as we wanted to flow naturally between each scene. We also wanted to capture the excitement of FIRST and some of the great moments in FRC in the past several years.

Here's the original NBA commercial that Rene referenced.

Fabulous choice of inspiration. The way you combined the original audio with some of the most epic matches in FRC history is simply priceless.

What if all FRC teams petition the NBA to be included in their next ad? It would work so well with Rebound Rumble, comparing the humans and the robots...

Let me echo this sentiment. I think your team has accurately captured what is so difficult to explain to those who have not previously participated in robotics competitions. That, in itself, is a major accomplishment.

Kudos for your hard work. I'll be keeping this link handy.

Commenting again to just say I've watched it several times and got tingles every time.

Though I've gotten some heartache as well as there are several defeats of 2826 shown at championships.

This is actually what guided the choice of certain cuts as we previously had other cuts that didn't deliver the punch we wanted when matched with the audio. The tension-filled moments were what we looked for and played around with for several weeks.

No doubt, every time I see the failed balance at the end of the match, I still sit on the edge of my seat hoping it changes to a success.

Nothing like being a 1/4" from Einstein and having it all fall apart (literally).
