Tote weights for reference:
2016 - 48 lbs 2015 - 60 lbs 2014 - 60 lbs 2013 - 48 lbs |
Re: [FRC Blog] Surprise!
1. One set of items, collectively, 27 in. x 17 in. x 13 in., 48 lbs.
2. One set of items, collectively, 2 in. x 2 in. x 48 in., 5 lbs. 3. One item, 8 in. x 3 in. x 7 in., 14 lbs. Item 1 is clearly a tote. (Recycle rush Definitely taught me the dimensions of those). So speculation for game pieces lies with item 2 and 3. a single 14lb item is pretty heavy especially since it is only 168 cubic inches. It does not appear to be a ball unless its a box of smaller balls. (Cananobals?) The second set of items to me looks like spare parts similarly to how they gave out the L Stock last year. Although it could definitely be a flag pole. Hmmmmm |

I'm also curious about the 14lb item. its roughly battery sized? And its only 1 item? Would they say its 1 item if its a box of little "cannonballs"? |
Weird that there is no mention of 775 pro being legal.

Thanks for the update and the KoP information. |

I wouldn't lose hope yet. I would assume they thought it was important to make it very public that they reversed a decision they had made public earlier in the year. |

Re: [FRC Blog] Surprise!
AM14U3 is four pounds heavier than AM14U2? Uh oh. I just convinced my team to order an AM14U2 from a recent Andymark Deal of the Day for possible use as our practice bot. The hope was that given the profile drawings the two kits would be extremely similar.
Guess we will soon see... |
Ok so the game piece is a battery! No? Bad idea? Serisouly though guess the game piece is probably in the tote.

And item 7 is pretty definitely game pieces - read the header above. The other possibility is that it is "Nothing!" (recalls French Revolution marketplace in History of the World Part I) |

I cant wait for our denim game pieces.
#DenimDerbyConfirmed Nice to see that the 550 and 775 are gonna stay with us for another year! No brakes on the kickoff hype train! :D |
Re: [FRC Blog] Surprise!
Since we couldn't get a representative to a pickup site, we're having our KOP shipped to my work site. Back in December, our team contacts received an email from FIRST--here's a portion:
Greetings Teams:My question is if the non-rookie KOP is only one tote and two boxes, why did it need to be shipped strapped to a pallet, and why does a 48-lb. shipment run $200? "Best way"? I might see a need for the pallet for overseas shipment, but not within the Continental US. Shipping three boxes, each with its own shipping label, would have been a lot cheaper...very disappointing. |

If one alliance builds Voltron does the other build Robeasts? One must get these tactical details done correctly if they are going to build a flying fortress for a game called 'Stronghold' in the 6 weeks. Goes and checks the VIMS system to insure I am no where near field reset this year. |

A 2 x 2 x 48 box has a volume of 192 cu-in. To fit a noodle into a 2in x 2in x 48 in box would require significant compression, even if you do cut it into pieces first |

They're all varying amounts of pizza.
It's a pizza game. Nothing is real. No but in all honesty, I hope there's no actual game pieces just to see what kind of game that could be. |

Re: [FRC Blog] Surprise!
I have great confidence that the 2nd item is some sort of flag/flag pole combination. maybe some sort of 2" x 2" flag pole that's 48 in long, item number 3 being a battery and number 1 being a tote.

It is aluminum extrusion like last time. If memory serves it was donated by Novelis. They may be switching to square/rectangle tube instead of the angle.

I then very quickly realized that the official scorekeeper(s) had absolutely nothing to possibly score during the auto phase of the game and spent the next few matches during the auto period low & behind the corner of the scorers table during the can wars, but always at pad/post w/ clicker in hand ready for the tele portion of the match...The act (as expected), did repeat at least once more a few matches later, and traveled the same exact path head high and close to her head again. Very scary when only protected by mere safety glasses....It did warrant your attention to say the very least. |
For those who want to see the match here's a link to the video https://youtu.be/CKO7-nln6qM the piece flys a about 0:30 when the second arm flys back up.
