oh jeez! I don't even wanna change the number now. I thought you had "up to date" floppy disks. These are old even by floppy disk measures! :eek:

Does anyone know if it is possible to download the encrypted version of the manual on an iPhone for offline use?

You will have to download a file viewer off of the appstore

I put it on a Google Drive that I can access from my iPhone. Then tomorrow when they release the password I should be able to open it.

However, as a backup I will also have it on other devices such as my laptop.

In the future, could FIRST please just provide an encrypted zip so we only need to type the password once?

This requires PDFTK to work, but give it the password as the first argument (in single quotes, remember how FIRST used '$' in last year's password!) then list all your encrypted PDF files. [Fixed link to pdftk console tool -JL]

Code:

#!/bin/bash

password=$1
shift

if [ ! -d decrypted ] ; then
  mkdir decrypted
fi

for afile in $*
do
  if [ -e decrypted/$afile ] ; then
    echo "decrypted/$afile already exists, skipping"
  else
    echo "Decrypting $afile with password '$password'"
    echo pdftk "$afile" input_pw \'$password\' output "decrypted/$afile"
    eval pdftk "$afile" input_pw \'$password\' output "decrypted/$afile"
  fi
done

Remember, you cannot test the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway if you don't put the data on tape in the first place.

I used one and it told me that decoding the password would take 325 million years to decode it. I think there's a slight difference in all our numbers.

If any of you had access to a Gibson this would be child's play. XD

you will be given the password at Kickoff tomorrow.

Oh sorry, my bad, I took a quick glance and saw the monotone gray and didn't look at the rest of the taskbar. :D I have to work with XP frequently so when I see that type of start button I associate it with XP :D

Of course. Way older than all the FRC students

I still think the the recycle rush totes will be a recycled game piece...

I don't think my keyboard is older than the kids on the team; I switched from DIN to PS/2 connectors a few computers back, though I still have some DIN keyboards in a file cabinet. (I do not have any single density 5.25" floppies still in the shrink wrap, though I may have a few used ones that went to that Apple ][+ clone that had 35 rather than 40 cylinders.) After learning to type in the late '70's (I suspected that these computer machines might become more common), flat panels, even with motors that go "thunk" are not a suitable substitute for springs and mechanical switches.

A couple years ago, I got rid of about half of my old computers, I have fewer than 50 now. The oldest was a The Digital Group Z80 machine.
