hehe, when our club was in the psaceship earth ride in 2001 it broke down by the greek place. A 20 something yearold guy was walking up to fix it and we gave him a cookie cause e was doing a good job :) then it broke again and we asked for or cookie back. He didn't seem amused......

ok, disney gestapo, somewhat of an inside joke, but i'll explain...

me and my groupies (yes, all the cool nerds on the team ;)), decided to go to the star wars ride. so, we're on it, and goign through the comet field, the sound shuts down, and the ride suddenly breaks. so, we're sitting there in this hot room, stuck in the seats (darned seat belts). so, my friend whips out his video camera, and starts shooting footage of us joking around and making fun of the ride for breaking. so, less than 30 seconds after he took out the camera, we hear a voice from the gods... it said put the camera away or else (well, not quite that harsh). so, we figured the disney gestapo was on to us, for getting footage that disney rides do in fact break down. so, we have been making jokes about that ever since, a few of them on CD :D. so now you all know the story behind the disney gestapo, and we all know that unless you want them after you, DON'T VIDEO TAPE BROKEN RIDES!!! :p

And our team members aren't the only ones who believe in the disney gestapo. Authour Carl Hiaasen wrote a book, Team Rodent all about what he percieves to be the evils of disney. Although he doesn't directly mention the disney gestapo, he does say stuff like, "Disney is so good at being good that it manifests an evil...and therefore is an agent of pure wickedness..." And what would any evil empire be without a secret police force? Hence, in order to fulfill its goals of world domination, disney had to greate the disney gestapo. Pretty scary stuff ;) .

Technicly, bicycle's are illegal on teh sidewalk. In many places, so are skateboards and rollerblades.

As a cyclist, people who ride bikes on the sidewalk scare me. (unless they are very small) The only ones who scare me more are the ones that ride facing traffic. Neither group is very predictable. I think however, that I could be quite comfortable riding a Segway in the street like a bike. Of course it would be rather slow compared to what I'm used to...

I work with Matt, I'm the other Matt There! It gets kinda weird when we both turn around when someone says "Hey Matt!". Anywho, looks like Matt Didnt hit the board tonight, so I will tell yall about the segway demo. It was really cool, it was just a regular demo, nuttin much. Rode it around, and thats about it.

In reference to NH being Farm Land, thats not true. Farm land is located in the middle of the USA, not North East. Manchester NH, (Where FIRST is located) is actualy considered to be the Technology "Hot Bed" on this side of the misssispie.

P.s. If one of us get time, we will post some pictures of the camp. Its a really cool place. You get to goof around and watch Flash Movies over the T-1 while the Kids work away @ Their Bots!

MBiddy 25-07-2002 23:45

What would happen if you run at the Segway and jump at it and grab the handles, but don't land on the platform? Would it tip?

What happens when you turn the Segway off? Does it just fall over?

MattM 26-07-2002 10:18

To answer your questions..... Hmmm, would it tip... it may, but haven't ever tried and dont really want to try.

Next, when you turn the segway off, thats exactly what it does, it just falls over. You can lean it against a pole or just lay it on the ground.

P.S.- Yeah, i wasn't on last night.

Ian W. 26-07-2002 14:03

hmm, does it give you a warning when you turn it off, or at least say something in the rule book? i can see many lawsuits from stupid people who turn it off, only to have it fall onto their foot and break it. of course, it's their fault for stupidity, but with fat people suing fast food, i wouldn't be surprised to see someone try to make money off of segway.

MBiddy 26-07-2002 17:33

All these places are saying "We support the Segway! The Segway is good! Go Segway!" But my question is, how many people are going to buy the Segway? I know I'm not. I wouldn't count on the Segway selling a lot of units to normal people for $3000 or more or whatever the high cost is. That's a lot of dough to be shelling out for a scooter.

Ashley Weed 26-07-2002 21:54

What is even more annoying then worrying about running into a skateboarder or rollerblader, is walking at an event with thousands of people, then all of a sudden an idiot on a golf cart type object comes flying at you full speed.

MattK 26-07-2002 22:00

You cant shut the Machine off when you are on it. It just screems at you and makes a sad face on the UI.

Its almost impossible to crash into someone on the segway, beacuse our natural instincet is to step back when something is coming @ us. Well if something jumped out in front of you, you would try to step back, by doing this you shirft you body waight intern stoping the segway.
