FRC STRONGHOLD - Game Planning Sheet

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone, I spent the last hour putting together a game sheet to plan strategies with your alliance.

Let me know what you think, and please feel free to suggest improvements!

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback thus far- version 1.1 has been uploaded with improvements!

That's pretty impressive for doing within an hour. I cant think of any improvements so good job.

That's really nice looking. One thing I'd suggest is changing the background from green to white. That way you can actually write on it.

Can you make a back and white friendly version? It looks amazing!

Looks great! Can you add the correct names of the defenses under the pictures?

I like it! I too made something to help my team and I. It is a word document that gives an overview of all the basic rules and diagrams that we will need to reference often because having to go through the manual every time is going to become tedious.

If you want to quickly mark which Defenses are going to be in each position, you can use the first letter from each Defense's name (use 'W' for Rock Wall and 'T' for Rough Terrain).

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Only thing I can think to add would be points for Breach and Capture during playoffs.

I like the way you think! Definitely adding something like this for the next version.

I thought about copy/pasting Table 3-1 from the rulebook (which contained this), but I couldn't find a way to incorporate it without shrinking the category key too much. I'll see if I can't fit the extra information in somehow.

Again, thank you all for the feedback! :)

I love it! Definitely going to convince my team to use this! Only thing I have as far as edits go is that one of the positions (I think position 1) is always the Low bar so it might be worthwhile to mark that on there

This is really nice; thank you. My only suggestion is to put the Low Bars in place, since they're always going to be in slot 1.

This is great! Glad to see an alternate version from another team! It's neat seeing what someone else finds to be important to put on the sheet. Every team has a different strategic philosophy and that greatly affects how their strategy sheet/mat turns out. I'll consider adding a quick reference point chart and a defense diagram sheet to our coach binder that has all our strategy mats. This is definitely a smart idea, especially if teams mix up or forget their vocab. Mine are always as minimalistic as possible, and assume that the players know the rules haha.

I too made mine in less than an hour this morning. I posted it over here if anyone's curious.

Really helpful!

One small quip, though, the second obstacle in group A is the "Cheval de Frise", not the "Chevar de Frise".

Thanks for a fantastic sheet!!

I think we will print out a bunch and use one per match.
Then the alliance drivers can decide where everyone is going to line up, defense, end game.

I agree it would be great if the low bar was in place and spell the Chevel de Frise correct.

Recommendation: If you have a laminator, laminate the sheets and use a wet erase marker on it. That way you can reuse the sheets match to match and event to event. (I always have at least three, in the past I've printed extras to give to rookie teams).

I have a similar strategy sheet, the main difference is that I have an area to write down the two alliances and a check box section to choose defenses. I moved the scoring to the back of the sheet for quals and elims, along with common fouls and a couple of other rules. Oh, and Ranking Order (Ranking points, auto, etc.).

Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates. Thanks again to everyone who gave more feedback!

Inspired by other match planning sheet designs, I went back and re-designed the sheet to be much more effective.
Behold: version 2.0!

Nice job! Our team is using something very similar. We have laminated it to a thin sheet of steel and made magnetic defense elements that can be placed on both the red and blue sides of the field to help coordinate teamwork. Our drive team brings it with them to the queue.

One more suggestion (if you are planning an update): put your name and team number/logo on it. When I go to "steal" (read: use) it, I want to give you some credit, considering I didn't make it. And then if someone else says "Wow nice sheet, can I get one?" I can say "Thanks, its actually from katabolt on CD from team 3674". Probably not worth a whole new update, but if you were planning on any other changes you should give yourself credit for your hard work.
