Long Island demo at Brookhaven Labs?

Anyone have any further info on this? I know Sunday, August 11 was supposed to be the day planned for the largest turnout. However, there have been no updates since?

I would really like to see my team one last time before I move up to WPI on August 17th. If you know anything at all about this, post it up. :D

hmm, i was supposed to call that guy...

anyways, here's what i know of it so far:

i work at BNL as an intern for a summer research project. they have signs all over about Sunday Tours, and they also have stuff on their website (www.bnl.gov).

about bringin robots, there's this guy on one team who invited us to come. i don't have his number on me now, but i have it somewhere. he said to call him to let him know who was coming, so i guess no one's going tomorrow :p.

i'll try to get in contact with him if i can find his number, and i'll relay anything i hear back to you guys. also, i think he's on team 287 (Team Floyd), but i'm not even close to 100% sure about that.

287 is bnl's team, so it would make sense if he was on it, but what is this now about bringing robots there....

Ian W. 28-07-2002 14:41

there's this thing called "Sunday Tours". it's supposed to ease public fears of bnl blowing up the world or something :p. but every sunday a different part of the lab is open to the public. in berkner hall (nice big building), i think, team 287 is showing off their robots, and i believe invited other teams to come, as long as calls are made ahead of time, so they know you're coming. i still haven't found the number yet, so i can't call. anyone else know anyone on 287?

This was sent out a few months ago.... early June, maybe?

Chris Ryon reminded us again of an opportunity to exhibit your robots at Brookhaven National Laboratory on several summer Sundays...July 28, August 4, August 11, August 18 and 25. The group decided that we should focus on August 11 for a turnout of as many robot teams as possible. Details to follow.
But, no phone number, and there were never any more details.

no, i went to an SBPLI meeting, and the guy was there. he gave out his number, but i lost the sheet on my desk somewhere, and well, my desk is a mess. grr, does anyone have any contacts with 287?

GotGuts610 28-07-2002 18:58

I found the number!

After reading this thread, I decided to try to dig out my notes from the SBPLI meeting that Ian was talking about and I found the sheet about the Sunday tours. The info I have is pretty much the same as Werner's; the tours are every Sunday from July 28 through Aug. 25, with the biggest turnout being planned for Aug. 11th. I was also able to find Chris Ryon (the guy to contact) from Team Floyd's phone number. For those who are interested, it is (631) 689-7042.
