then, a somewhat more costly solution...

buy yourself a second router. hook that up directly to the cable modem. hook your computer directly into that. hook the current router into the new one. then, your dad has double protection, and you can play your games. kinda expensive, but just tell him he'll be so protected that nothing can get through :D.

I use my XP(used to be 2k)box as a router, works great, I have my firewall on here too, and I have no problems, I share through my hub between 1-4 other computers. It pretty much only cost me $20, I had to buy the extra Ethernet card, and there are actually other software solutions that let you have only one ethernet card and share, but I like the NT built in ICS.

Cable>>>>>Ethernet Card 1 {My Computer: ICS/Firewall} Ethernet Card 2>>>> Hub >> several other computers

I have also several differnt servers running on here (Web, FTP, VNC, Shoutcast, Telnet, Telnet for Shoutcast), so it makes everythign easier, I don't have to worry about port forwarding or having to configure certain programs for firewall access, because this computer is the firewall. It's just a very nice, and incredibly secure solution if you have the comp anyway

For those of you who might say it's not secure, people forget that XP is pretty much just 2k with a face lift and a few security upgrades. XP with any firewall is pretty much as secure as any consumer harware solution.

with 2 NICS it is nice, cause when you go to LAN(Party)'s you can use two ports on the hub/switch and get double the bandwith, SUPA-LOW-PING:D
