Team Drawing Field BOM?

Has anyone found a BOM for the parts/wood needed to build the field? If not how much woods if you purchase to build the field?

Re: Team Drawing Field BOM?

You can find the official team version drawings of the field elements in the file titled "2016TeamVersions" in this zipped folder: https://firstfrc.blob.core.windows.n...wings-2016.zip

I went through that document last night to make a listing of how much of material each field element would require, and how many of each field elements you would need to have a full field*:
*It was a late night, so please feel free to make any corrections

Re: Team Drawing Field BOM?

I'm pretty sure your quantities of pipe clamps, bolts and nuts for Cheval de Frise are wrong.

There are 4 teetering platforms, each of which needs 2 pipe clamps and each pipe clamp needs 2 bolts and nuts.

Therefore under miscellaneous for CdF I think it should be:
(8 x) pipe clamp, cheval de fries
(16 x) flat head screw, 3/8-16 x 1.25”
(16 x) nut, nylock 3/8-16

Thanks for putting this list together.

It looks like you're right, I had only accounted for two of the platforms. Thanks for the correction! I have edited my original post to fix this.

From competition drawings :
HW-00099 : Extension Screen Door Spring, 15"-18 1/2"
HW-00100 : Screen Door Spring, 16-3/8" Long

For each : 2 Oval Threaded Connectors, 3/16" Diam

Thank you so much for putting this together - I started looking through the field components and almost immediately got a (figurative) headache. You're wonderful!

We are building the Chin-up bar with two ramp corners (1&&2). Then Put a low goal door in it. Then a opening at the top to simulate the High Goal. Kills the whole tower in one device.

Then a Outer reach receptacle to insert the obstacles we are choosing to focus on.

Re: Team Drawing Field BOM?

Here is a link to assist with BOM - our team already has field side walls and the driver stations built from previous years so they are not included. Also, this plans for only one of the 8 defense elements for the field. You may want to build two of each. Estimated sheet totals of plywood and 2X4s are in green cells. We also use OSB for some vertical walls on some elements.

Has anyone else noticed the difference in the angle of the defense ramp. C.A.D. Files say 14.5 manual says 13.5

I just noticed this also - the length of the ramp is different as well. Section 2, page 10 of the Game manual diagram shows ramps at 1 ft long and 13.5 degrees, while the CAD Team Defense Platform drawing has a 10 inch ramp onto a 75.5 degree bevel resulting in a 14.5 degree angle.

We're really interested in our angle of attack for the low bar, so quick clarification would be appreciated.

On the sally port, the plan says 3 25" 2 by 4s, put I only see two used in the construction.

Also the 4 ft 2 by 4 18 degree angle cut can be tricky. Really needs a table saw and someone who knows how to do it safely.

We built the Sally Port tonight and noodled over the 3 25" 2X4s, and found the first page materials list only lists 2 of those, but the dimensiond drawings indicate 3. You only need 2.

However, we also found that the door is so heavy on the short little wall, it is pulling it over. Will reinforce with brackets and possibly lighter weight door.

IowaBoyInMN 26-01-2016 22:15

We used shims under the wall and it brought it back up.
