I believe this might be just a double tortuga though, but I'll let someone else be the judge.

We have our 2nd Winner! Golfer4646, you put the link up to the match first. PM to work out the $10 Gift Card.

3 More $10 Triple Tortuga's Left plus the big kahuna, $50 buckaroo bonzias for the link that shows a Double Triple Tortuga (if it ever happens).

Cheers,
Dr. Joe J.

I don't really know where this should go. It's not really a tortuga, and it's not really a Dukes of stronghold, but I thought it was funny nonetheless.
Watch the field volunteer in the white shirt. The camera was pointed on that side of the field, and all you could see was her reaction, and then it cuts over to the punchline.

Dr. Joe, we might just need a thread for all the funny moments of Stronghold, this season is FULL of them. I've enjoyed every match I've watched, and something interesting is always happening.

Match number 60 at CVR had 3 robots tip over. Two of the bots tipped from the ramparts and another bot tipped over on itself.

Here's a picture:
Also, the red robot was knocked over by a blue robot, causing a foul.

Potential Triple Tortuga at the Los Angeles Regional!

Quals 41, Teams 3512, 4415, 848

848 got hung up in the low bar early and lost comm. 3512 flipped going over ramparts, and late in the match 4415 flipped backwards attempting the chival de frise.

First of all, AMAZING find. It's like a fine wine. So many flavors and tastes to swirl around your mouth and enjoy.

Second of all, sorry I have been away on family matters for a few days.

Allow me to call the match:

At first I thought 3512 was a gonner in Auton. But no, they pulled it out and righted the ship. All is well, they are crossing defenses and looking good. Then at :55 it's their 4th time across the 3rd defense, heading to the neutral zone to presumably move to start weakening another defense and BOOM! They get sideways to the defense and cartwheel, ending up wheels to the ceiling (the most iconic of all tortuga poses*).

Meanwhile it looks like 848 is near the low bar having problems with coms(?). They are touching the outworks so I'd be inclined to give them the tortuga if the the match ends here, but no, 848 comes alive and completes the limbo at 1:05.

Then at 1:14, 848 is back under the limbo bar apparently down for the count (coms again?).

All the while, 4415 is gamely (and if I am being honest, shakily) weakening defenses . They have a few near tortuga experiences (e.g. at 1:32 but their driver and their wheelie bar save them for the moment).

At 2:15 4415 wisely decides that the drawbridge is the best way back to the neutral zone and 848 is ALIVE.

848 trashes around a few times in the courtyard by the low bar as 4415 sets up for one last crossing.

848 seems to be having drive train problems in addition to the coms issues(?). They move a bit away from the outerworks but can't really get away and end up driving into the low bar as 4415 tumbles backward (no wheelie bar to save them this time because their wheelie bar does double duty as a Chili Fries actuator) and time expires.

I think it is POSSIBLE that 848 was not quite stuck on the outerworks but in the end, they spent all but a few seconds of the match actually in the outerworks and clearly hadn't escaped the low bar's maw as time expired.

I'm awarding our 3rd Triple Tortuga!!!

seg9585, PM me and we'll make arrangement to get you your $10 gift card (which was started as Starbucks but was then expanded to Amazon and now another person has asked for iTunes. so... ...I am pretty open about gift card sources).

May all your tortugas be TRIPLE Tortugas.

Dr. Joe J.

*This happened to Overclocked at Reading on Saturday so I'm not casting aspersions -- it can happen to the best of us.

Does it count as a tortuga if the defense gets stuck on the robot?

Nice. Is it just me or are there many many more such "interesting" moments in this year's game?

I am finding it to be that way too. It's a fun game to just watch.

Don't have a video of this, but at Greater Kansas City in Quals 24, All three blue robots became immobile.

I've been looking for video of this, but I can't find it, so I'll provide the play by play, as I recall it.

The near robot was disabled by the refs for having a bumper fall off traversing the rock wall (it was lying in the neutral zone next to the robot). One of the other two (1997) subsequently got stuck in the moat (high-centered on the second bar). The third robot could only cross group B and D defenses (too tall for the low bar) and got marooned in the neutral zone. They tried to push the dead robot over the rock wall, which had no effect. Then they cast about for a moment or two trying to find something to do. After a few moments, they drove over and tried to push their other partner out of the moat. This resulted in the tent formation you see in the picture. Since at that point the only things in contact with the ground were bumpers, they were stuck there for the rest of the match.
