It doesn't, but there would be nothing wrong with using it if the rules were to allow you to. You just couldn't make your second bot as complex.

-dave p.s. anyone remember that one of the most effective and far-reaching Directorates of the old KGB in the former Soviet Union was fully dedicated to producing just one thing: dis-information. You know, release information that sounded real, seemed real, but wasn't; the sole purpose was to flood the channels with LOTS of information, all of it plausible, so that you could never really be sure what was real and what wasn't. But none of us would think that ANYONE associated with FIRST would EVER resort to those sorts of tricks... |
FIRST explicitly said at the MI forum that the EduRobot controller would not be allowed on any competition robot(read: anything that's on the field at a regional or championship)...

I dont think That is possible look at it this way even with the internet, team 25 in north brunswick nj and team 47 pontiac Michigan make sharing ideas difficult and going to regionals even more so. A team that attends many regionals ie. CD could get paired with team that barely can afford to goto one regional and then nationals would be out of the questions with odd even pairs |
Man, I'm in the new Stoney Creek Robotics Team and it's going to be this challenging???!!!

Where do you guys get all of this information from anyway?
|
Different sources, usually rumors, mostly from people in FIRST that you might meet just by having a team shirt on or stuff like that.

Oh.

Some some people just make up. Like that Dave character, allways acting like he knows what he is talking about, then goes and talks about something he isnt.

All of you people seem to be taking these rumors as true, not what they are, which is in fact rumors. It is fun to think about what the game could be, bust most ideas are generally fantasies. For example, I don't think FIRST will ever require one team to build two robots. It is far too demanding time wise and money wise. Also bowling balls would never be used for the fact that they are very heavy and potentially dangerous. Water is the most sabsurd idea I have ever heard, seeing as water and electronics NEVER go well together. Anyways. maybe its just me, but it seems like too many people are giving too much value to these rumors.
Thats my $.02. |
It's just what we do.
The rumors forum is compiled from loads of absurd rumors that we all build upon, just to do it. No reason, just that we like to post and stuff. Around November last year, I started a thread here about tacos. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, and it wasn't. It stood in the first page till the end od Febtober, though. Just interesting stuffs.

We have this discussion every year (search the old threads). Technically, adding water to the competition would not be that big a leap. It has already happened unintentionally at a few events. The only real anti-aquatic arguments that hold water (heh!) are about the various logistical difficulties associated with moving moist elements of the field in and out of the competition venues. -dave |
