Brazil r/s!!!!

Well, I can't keep this little gem of a plugin a secret (I know i'll get it from other teams at competition when they see the detail on the renders). The brazil renderer is nearing completition and the beta is still available, I've been playing with some basic renderings, and its SWEET! The anti-aliasing and Depth of Field (DOF) are amazing (not to mention the freaking cool glass and raytrace effects). Im going to try and see if they want to donate a copy to a good cause..hehe. If not i'm going to try and get school to buy us a full copy, but from what ive seen in the beta, and the gallery, AMAZING! To find out more, check it out at splutterfish.com . The flying hot dog stand has new life now with this plugin, hehe! Good luck with it everyone! If anyone needs some help, just post here and i'll try and help ya out. C'yall later! GO TEAM 108!!!!:D

Aaron Lussier 04-08-2002 21:16

HOLY SMOLEY
that is the most insane rendering that I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Specialagentjim 04-08-2002 21:36

hehe, thanx!

Good luck to yall! GO TEAM 1101100!!! (Thats binary for 108...yeh, bored am i, lol)

Brazil has been around for a while. It and Arnold are big now becuase they have a good Global Illumination system. I think other companies are trying to mimic the way they render stuff. It's all very cool.

Specialagentjim 05-08-2002 16:16

Yeh...I can't wait to see MAX 5 too

Max 5 supposedly has done a lot of work in their illumination systems as well, I guess we'll all have to wait and see how it comes out. It would definetly appear that illumination systems are the focus of the industry right now, if you find any nice systems like it, lemme know. What's this arnorld system? They have a site? Thanks for any info!

MBiddy 05-08-2002 16:57

This Marcos guy rendered a bunch of stuff in Arnold

And Pepeland.com has some Arnold renders too. It's crazy amazing.

Here's another article about how Arnold was used rendering the Fifty Percent Grey short film (Which is groovy shway!)

I don't think Arnold has been released yet, but I think it's going to be big when it is.

Specialagentjim 05-08-2002 22:53

Oooo yeah, i almost forgot about this...

Can't ever totally forget pepeland! heh, yeh, definetly a freaking cool system. How fast does it render tho? Brazil touts its got a really fast renderer (but with only the beta to play with, i havent been able to mess with it too much because they disabled the "Speed enhancements" or something like that...Oh well...can't wait to see if there's money left in that school budget! hehe). Sorry for all the dumb questions that i could answer myself, but i just had a little encounter with a Windows 2000 Service Pack 3...apparently, if u download teh network installer, it screws up if run from explorer (Not internet explorer, just plain old explorer...windows) SO, the fix is to close explorer before you start the install...Hmmm....as scooby doo once said "Rat Raint RIGHT!" Good luck to the rest of you with SP3, and thanx for all the info on Arnold!

The network admins at work told us not to upgrade to Win2k SP3, and to read the EULA to find out why. I guess it could compromise our customer's contracts/security/etc.

The SP3 EULA (end user license agreement) is not compatible with the way in which our company conducts its business and could possibly compromise our customer's data.

I'll just stick with Win98.

Specialagentjim 06-08-2002 16:21

BOY! I ooutta SMACK you for that one...

Windows 98 Vs. Windows 2000....Hmm...lemme think, no, i got a better idea, how bout I just go with the most robust, reliable microsoft product (Besides the ever-rock solid MS-DOS [i only got it to GPF once!]) they make, WINDOWS 2000. Yeah, for graphics work and everything, Windows 2000 all the way...unless you feel like reinstalling windows every month or so because windows 98 felt like it was time for it to flake out again....No offense to those 98 die hard fans...all I'm saying is UPGRADE YOU!

Btw, this thread sure has taken a turn, hasnt it? It went from
"Yo everyone, check out brazil" to "98 vs. 2k".... ::Shurgs:: eh, who cares? lol, talk to ya all later

Mark Hamilton 13-08-2002 02:38
