Stop Build Day (already?), Achievement Streamers, and the Las Vegas Venue

Stop Build Day

Yep, Stop Build Day is coming, and winter (at least for those teams in the Northern Hemisphere – but we love you, too, teams in the Southern Hemisphere!) is already here.

I saw a recent post on Chief Delphi that reminded me to remind you, if you are a team that lives in an area that gets shut down for storms, to please plan ahead and be safe. You should be working under the assumption that you actually will have fewer days than the calendar tells you to get ready. You should also be working under the assumption that Stop Build Day won’t be moving, regardless of how heavy the storms are or where they hit.

Achievement Streamers
In this blog, we said that teams this season will be receiving Achievement Streamers to hang on their Team Standards. This will give teams a chance to display their achievements to the world right on the FIRST STRONGHOLD field. Here’s your secret decoder for what those variously colored streamers will mean when you see them:

Las Vegas Venue Change
For teams attending the Las Vegas Regional, please note that the location of the event has recently changed. It will now be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center, on the same dates as before.

Hope everyone’s having fun getting ready for FIRST STRONGHOLD!

Frank

I don't understand the purpose of the royal blue ribbon. Does that mean a team that competed the first year of FIRST? Or a team that has competed every year continuously since they first started? If it's the latter, wouldn't almost every team qualify for one?

I believe that would be a team that competed the first year of FIRST and is therefore prequalified for Championships. I think the main usefulness of these is that in the eliminations, you can see at a glance how many wild cards an alliance might potentially generate (apart from winning EI or Chairman's at that event)

It's for teams which have competed every single season since 1992. It's a very short list of team. 20, 45, 126, 148, 151, 190, 191

Original/Sustaining teams are a group of teams that have been around since 1992. The teams are 20, 45, 126, 148, 151, 190, and 191.

Does anyone else feel underwhelmed by the streamers? I wish that they at least had the words for what they were for on them.

I like this idea, but for it to work you'd also have to have achievement streamers for last year's Championship winners and Championship EI winners, right? Unless you gave them "plain" red and blue streamers.

On one hand yes, but on the other it fits more in line with the themeing. Plus it is likely easier and cheaper to source these.

I think, since they are giving HOF and Original/Sustaining, it might have been nice to have a ribbon for the previous year's or all World Champion Alliance members. It is always neat to see that a team was on a World Championship Alliance...
