Need help ordering a Versaplanetary gearbox

Out team wants to buy a Versaplanetary gearbox attached to a minicim but we wanted to make sure we were buying exactly what we need.
To my understanding, in order to buy a versaplanetary gearbox with a 100:1 reduction with a .5 hex output and a minicim input, I'll need to buy:

1. Base VersaPlanetary 1:1 with 1/2" Hex Output (217-3563)
2. 2x VersaPlanetary Ring Gear Add-on Kit (217-2816)
3. 2x VersaPlanetary 10:1 Gear Kit (217-2820)
4. 1x VersaPlanetary CIM Adaptor (217-4018)
5. 1 minicim

Is this correct?

Looks good to me. We ordered 8 sets of various VP gearboxes this year. We could not be happier. I would buy a few extra stages to play around although I wouldn't go over 100:1.

That looks good to me, nothing irregular. What system are you driving a miniCIM to 100:1? Don't think it's a safe reduction with that amount of torque.

Thanks for your help! and we'll take your advice into consideration.

Do you really need to buy a miniCIM, or do you have ones in your build space (for example, the one in the 2016 kit)?

May want to consider this as well

Thanks for your reply. The team was seeking to impliment the rotating arm system used Ri3D greenhorns into our own shooter so we wanted to reduce the rotation speed enough to be easily controllable as well as prevent as much backdrive as possible. The rationale was that a high reduction ratio 100:1 would effectively eliminate the backdrive.

For that application you should be alright, just don't get too adventurous and try to lift anything really heavy with it.

We're doing the same motor and reduction combo but are doing 3 stages (5:1, 5:1, 4:1) since we are hoping to use the arm for assistance in crossing defences, and maybe to try to flip someone back over if ever needed.
